VanDusen Festival of Lights

A stunning winter paradise was created on 15 acres of the VanDusen Botanical Garden by more than a million lights for the VanDusen Festival of Lights, which was a wonderful experience. Everyone could participate in the winter festival, which started on November 25, 2022, and ran through January 2, 2023, capturing the joy and wonder of the season.

The beautiful Rose Garden, strolling along the lakeshore, the return of Dancing Lights, lighting a candle at the Scottish Shelter, and donating to Make-A-Wish were all options for visitors. A magical winter garden with themed zones, delectable delicacies, stunning lighting effects, and seasonal music awaited.

The VanDusen Botanical Garden, first opened to the public on August 30, 1975, is jointly maintained by the Vancouver Park Board and the Vancouver Botanical Gardens Association (VBGA). The public garden was built on a section of the former Shaughnessy Golf Course. A contemporary visitor center with a café, coffee shop, gift shop, and a specialized botanical library is featured on the site.

The Garden spans 22 hectares (55 acres). Along with a substantial collection of British Columbia’s native flora, there are displays of plants throughout the globe (Northwest Coast). In addition to water features scattered over the undulating landscape, the park has gigantic stone sculptures, carved totem poles, and a little Japanese garden.

Enjoy the short video of my experience at the VanDusen Festival of Lights beginning of 2023. Wishing you all LocalGuides a Happy new year!

This is beautiful - it reminds me of the Botanical Garden of Wellington where they had similar concepts and festival @kasunaaa but it is in September, the beginning of Spring.

Happy happy new year @kasunaaa and what a lovely light festival you have here!

Love to see the beautiful colors here and there and for sure VanDusen Botanical Garden looks amazing with million lights specially set for it. Starting from next week if I’m not mistaken, Wellington will have similar one in Botanic Garden as well just like @Sophia_Cambodia said. I hope I will manage to see it before heading to the South Island for holiday with my family.

@indahnuria when you go to the Botanical Garden of Wellington, please don’t forget to check the glow-worm in the garden at midnight, or at its very darkest hours. You will be amazed by them.

@Ewaade_3A You are absolutely correct; the Festival of Lights same as colorful as Diwali. Dancing lights and the tunnel of lights were my favorite items of all.

 I did not close my eyes while walking through the rose garden. Since it is winter, there are no bloomed roses, but they have decorated sections with amazing lights.

Canada is excellent other than I miss scuba diving. I wanted to try scuba diving here, but I still need to prepare for ice-cold water. I plan to do a dry suite diving course to explore Canadian diving sites this summer where the water temperature little bit warmer. Apart from diving, I could explore another set of adventures available here, like Skiing and exploring glacier mountains.

I’m glad that you love my underwater mapping and posts. Don’t worry. I got one of my underwater recaps pending since I had to move soon after the meetup. I have my footage saved on my hard drive with me, and soon I will write my recap and share it with you all.
Looking forward to seeing your botanical garden experience. Have a wonderful year

@Sophia_Cambodia Wow, lovely images of your experience at the Botanical Garden of Wellington with similar lighting. Thank you for sharing those beautiful images. Most of the time botanical gardens are an easy getaway from the busy lifestyle.
