Urgent Review Needed: Pending Edits for Arab Bank ATM and Ben Al-Sadeh (Amman)

Subject: Urgent Review Needed: Pending Edits for Arab Bank ATM and “Ben Al-Sadeh” (Spelling Fix) in Amman

Hello Connect Moderators and Fellow Local Guides,

I am writing to request an urgent manual review for two important edits I made recently in Amman, Jordan. Both edits have been stuck in the “Pending” status since June 28th, and they are causing confusion for local users and business owners.

1. Arab Bank ATM (Relocation)

  • The Issue: This ATM was completely closed at its old location and moved to a brand new spot nearby.
  • My Edit: I updated the location and uploaded new photos of the ATM in its actual, current position. However, the edit is still pending. Since this is a financial service, it’s crucial for users to find it correctly.

2. Ben Al-Sadeh / بن السادة (Spelling Correction & Local Business Impact)

  • The Issue: There was a small spelling mistake in the Arabic name. The name should end with a Ta’a Marboutah (ة) → (بن السادة), but due to an auto-correct issue on the keyboard, it was previously saved with a Ha’a (ه).
  • My Edit: I submitted a correction to fix this letter. Unfortunately, it is still pending.
  • The Impact: The business owners are actively contacting me, asking why the correction isn’t showing up yet, as the current spelling looks unprofessional to their customers.

As a Level 8 Local Guide, I personally visited these sites and verified these details on the ground. Could a moderator please escalate these pending edits so they can be approved?

Thank you for your continuous support in keeping Google Maps accurate!

Best regards,

Bassam Faris Qaneer

Hello @Bassam4

Although edits aren’t really going through easily these days in general.

Banks, ATMs, Pharmacy and a few other POIs are very sensitive places to edit. One solution will be to approach the bank management and politely ask them to effect the edit through the Banks GMB page if it’s properly claimed.

Editing the places multiple times will not help you to get approvals. Infact it might even be a disadvantage. The AI might take that wrongly.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hi @Bassam4

ATMs are extra protected so we cannot edit them. Don’t waste your time.

Hi Morten,

Thank you for your honest and direct answer.

This is exactly why I started advocating for clearer system responses. It is frustrating to see that even with real on-the-ground photos and clear physical evidence, the automated system keeps these important edits blocked, and even top moderators cannot bypass it.

I won’t waste more time on this specific ATM, but I truly hope Google finds a better engineering balance between security and accurate, community-led data in the future.

Hi Morten and Shola,

Thank you both for your honest answers and for the technical warning. I understand that the automated system puts extra security locks on ATMs, and I definitely don’t want to risk my Level 8 account by making multiple repetitive edits.

However, it is just deeply frustrating from a local community perspective. When big corporations move their services and neglect updating their maps, regular people are the ones who suffer, wandering around looking for a machine that is no longer there.

I did my part as a volunteer to verify the physical location and provide real photo evidence. Since the system cannot accept it, I will leave this edit as it is and move on. I truly hope Google’s engineering team finds a better balance in the future between tight security and reflecting the real situation on the ground to save users’ time.

Best regards,

I agree that Google Maps need to prevent us from wasting time editing places we can’t edit. That would be the minimum to ask for when we volunteers spend our time to try to improve the data quality on Google Maps.
