Upstate New York Hiking

As a beginner to moderate hiker, I have found a few spots that I enjoy to find new paths or landmarks. The Erie Cannal has several sections in different cities that have unique features. Letchworth State Park, noted as the Grand Canyon of the East features three waterfalls and miles of trails. To the north of Albany is the Adirondack park, which has hiking trails for all abilities. Your selection can be lakeside, wooded, or mountain climbs for day hikes or backpacking for several days.

Hi @Peter_Repp . Ooh, thanks for sharing this post. I recently go a new car and look forward to discovering some hiking spots on the weekends in upstate New York. I will look into Letchworth State Park for sure, though looks like it’s a three day weekend sort of trip being ~5 hours from Brooklyn. Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for the feedback. When you go to Letchworth Park, try Brian’s USA Diner just outside the entrance in Mount Morris. Great food reasonably priced. I never go away hungry. The place is always busy. Lots of people from the local towns and nearby College.
