Updating road properties and seasonal road speeds for travel on unsealed surfaces

Good evening local guides!

I’ve pasted a screenshot below from a local business (one of many) in the remote Australian outback area near where I’ve been living the last few years. The road they are describing are unsealed and there is no data coverage in the area for google maps to collect travel times to update estimates. Businesses are advising that it affects tourist numbers which is a bit disappointing for them as it is absolutely beautiful! This particular drive is only 2-3 ho

urs but it does depend on two factors:

  1. Weather (the wet season causes occasional flooding)

  2. Car capacity. Most passenger vehicles can travel these roads easily but sometimes 4wd vehicles are needed.

I’m sure there have been plenty of previous discussions on the topic but I was wondering if anyone knew how to flag specific roads and travel times to destinations (maybe through the new follow feature). In particular in a remote area where there isn’t coverage to accurately report travel times back to google. At any rate, this section of road needs to be updated.

Cheers

Hi @Johnvb generally talking is possible to send a feedback for each step in a navigation in Google Maps; you can suggest to avoid some part of a route and so on.

But this is a specific issue; Google Maps cannot send an alert to people that want to specifically drive in a not safe area.

Generally speaking Google could not replace good sense of safety and circulation rules.

Thank you for your help. Is there any way to edit the road properties so that the estimated driving time is less than it currently is?
