Updates on Google Maps After Provincial and District Mergers in Vietnam

Vietnam is planning a major administrative restructuring (about 1st July 2025), in which 2 to 3 provinces or cities may be merged into a single administrative unit. In addition, districts will be dissolved, and multiple wards or communes will be combined into one. Given these upcoming changes, how will Google Maps handle the updates? Will the names, boundaries, and local listings be adjusted accordingly? And how long does it usually take for such large-scale administrative changes to be reflected on the map?

As far as I know, local governments that have the authority to publish and manage geospatial maps can notify Google Maps about the latest developments, so that they can be updated on Google Maps.

This is not something we local guides can fix. If you know where to find the new official Maps, please make a post in the Maps Support Forum to let them know about the upcoming changes.

Is can be done quickly if your authorities have a geo data partnership with Google Maps as mentioned by @BudionoS.
