Last week I was visiting the capital of North Macedonia named Skopje. I was there to get my teeth fixed and do some photo walks as it is my favorite hobby.
Prior to traveling, I tried to locate some local guides in Skopje to see if they would like to meet. But no luck.
Then suddenly I noticed on Instagram that one of the Google Moderators from Connect started posting pictures from Skopje! Wuhu,
Soon I had the pleasure of eating breakfast with this lovely lady.

Thank you for telling us about it too. If I was in your shoes I’ll have tons of questions to ask her about connect and the maps etc.
You didn’t discuss much on this meet-up though it’s impromptu I know. Please where did you have breakfast? What did you have etc common please give us more details if you don’t mind. You mentioned that she was on vacation,is she back to work now? We need her at work Lol. Happy guiding
I sure did feel glad and privileged to have this opportunity. We talked about a lot of different topics over breakfast at my hotel and while walking. Mostly trying to get to know each other. I also suggest something more needs to be done to create excitement between Local Guides and here on Connect. Nothing concrete, though.
Hahaha, I’m certainly back on Connect, @SholaIB ! But even when I’m not, I get to meet Local Guides unexpectedly, because we’re all over the world, and that’s wonderful.
Meeting up with @MortenCopenhagen made me realize how much I miss Local Guides conversations in real life. Morten, it was such a pleasure to get to know you and hear your great laugh, not just imagine it.
If I ever get the chance to visit Africa, India, Brazil, and Germany, I’m certainly coming for you, @SholaIB , @NareshDarji , @AlexandreCampbell , and @ChiaraMariaC ! Or if we happen to be in another place at the same time.
When I was in London earlier this year, I couldn’t meet up with @Globe_trotter_Ish , but hopefully one day.
And wow, @ErmesT , I love that photo!! I’ll have to start planning my vacations around some of the bigger community meet-ups.
Good to know you’re back on connect @DeniGu welocome back. Yes re-Local guides conversation in real life. That’s why I prefer physical meet-up to virtual. As soon as the way opened up,I organised lots of physical meet-ups. It’s good to be real !!!
Well if @MortenCopenhagen is as good in real as he is in virtual ,he certainly does well for connect and local guides and Google Maps. Try take a break and connect to Africa sometime Deni . Thanks for all you do for us. Thank you for taking time out with him and thank you for replying.
It was lovely reading about this unplanned “meet-up” @MortenCopenhagen and @DeniGu . Am I right to assume from the photos showcasing the dentures of both of you, that Skopje in North Macedonia is the place to go for good dental treatment?
Honestly, I was super lucky to meet Morten, because, meeting Local Guides you’ve talked to for so long on Connect, truly feels like meeting a celebrity. So I bet your physical meet-ups are really fun! Hope to join you one day.
