Unknown place, so what would you do?

Good morning Tony, thanks for tagging me - not sure, I would have seen it without the tag!

Your case seems very similar to the cases I described in Two historic places disappeared suddenly and photos now linked to “Unknown place”, reported it to Google Maps help Community (as @JustJake also suggested) and the two places were reinstated within five days.

I discovered through my daily tracking, these two historic places in different cities within 20 miles disappeared on the same day. so I reported together and they got reinstated at the same time. I think, it was very helpful to report quickly and providing the original permalink.

The strange thing was, my photos were treated differently:

  • The photos posted to “Il Chiostro di di San Domenico” showed “Unknown place” but were still public (i.e. I could share the link with anonymous).
  • Those from “Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti” got hidden immediately (for this reason, I found out soon, the place was gone), but also stayed hidden a week after the place was reinstated. So, I submitted the appeal form and a day later, they are public again.
