Thanks for bringing this up again. This caused me to take another look at mine, and I see my number has changed. I now have four places marked as unknown, the newest one being a recently closed furniture and appliance store where I had uploaded two photos and one video.
I’m suspecting a correlation between this and the “hidden photos” issue being discussed here Leveraging the Top 100 Leaderboard System for Hidden Photo Management - A Different Approach and here Improved Google Map Feature to identify Hidden Photos
For a while I had 8 hidden photos, but yesterday I discovered I have 11. As 8+3=11, I’m assuming the three are those from the newly marked Unknown Place.
The total number of photos attached to my Unknown Places is 6, and I believe the remaining 5 might be attached to the two hidden reviews that I found.
So, going back to the original question in this thread - Unknown place, so what would you do? - I’m leaning towards deleting the photos of those places if that would help to resolve the “hidden photo” issue on my profile.
