Unable to load some location places in google map

Recently, I have this issue where I can’t load the details of some locations in google. It is not just a few, it is literally hundreds of random place around the world which have this problem.

Simply cannot load the location themselves. It is not because of connectivity problems

I have started uploading my google map problems to youtube so anyone can see it. I am not trying to promote my youtube channel or anything. I doing it so that others can better understand the problem I am facing better

Below is the video link about my problem:
https://youtube.com/shorts/QvJWou-U0Hs?feature=share

As you can see in the short video, my internet connect is very good. Some places can load fine and some cannot.

Using google map on laptops, other people devices and other people accounts is working fine. But somehow it only happens on my account.

My device that I am having the problem is S22 plus. And the problem starts on 12 december 2022, around 12pm singapore timing, after I was searching a random restaurant located in johor bahru.

I hope that someone could reply back to me on this matter. Thank you.

Hi @xmen123wood

Please share Maps links to 2 or 3 of the places you csn not open.

Also, please test if the problem persists if you use your account on another device and from another platform.

Please, try Clear cache & cookies, if you have not already done so. The link has step-by-step instructions for Android, IOS, and Desktop. Just select the relevant tab at the top.

Also, please log out of your Local Guides account and log back in, and update your Google Maps app if necessary.

Best of luck

Let me add:

A pin that was very recently removed will behave as what you showed in the video. Can’t connect is the message given when a place is removed from the database and not yet have been deleted from the copy of the database used to generate the map. There is often a week’s delay before all systems know about a place was deleted.

@MortenCopenhagen Thank you for your reply. I think I need to state more details of my issue

Firstly, I don’t understand what you meant by this “Please share Maps links to 2 or 3 of the places you csn not open.”

Secondly, I have went to clear the cache and cookies from chrome and google map as per your instructions. I also updated chrome and google maps already

Thirdly, I have tried using my google map account on my laptop, my friend account on his old phone and another of my inactive account on the same device. And it works fine

Next, the places which have the problems is not removed or deleted from the database. You can even search those places and it is there. I am really starting to get scared because it is like google map is putting in place a bug or a ban on my google nap account. To test whether my issue is being solved, I will search for kfc chinatown point sinagpore and warakuya restaurant johor bahru near sutera mall in my own account on my device, to confirm if the issue have been solved

I hope to get a reply from anyone. Thank you.

@xmen123wood

So what happens when you use your account on a Desktop. Can you open the placesheets? If so the issue is isolated to your phone.

This is an example of a Maps link:

KFC ChinaTown Point
+65 6702 0176
https://maps.app.goo.gl/Fc73EEzKCWj7Tx3t7

Open a placesheet, tap share and then copy the link.

@MortenCopenhagen Thank you for your reply.

This is the link you requested:

https://goo.gl/maps/81dyKgNGPn9Z8C9v5

It came from my laptop. I can open it fine.

I also tried to use my account on different devices and the same problem happens. It seems like the issue is only happening within my own google map account. I really want to know why is that so. It don’t seem like I got banned or anything but it exist with my google map account

I hope to get a solution to it soon. Thank you.

Regards,

Leonard

@MortenCopenhagen

This is how it looks like if I open your link and my desktop share link

Thanks for all the details, @xmen123wood .

Kindly confirm if this place is showing the issue consistently or is it an on+off issue?

Lastly, please list the operating system version you are using and the version of the Google Maps App.

Let me tag @DeniGu for you. Hopefully, she will now what to do or escalate this to the relevant team.

@xmen123wood

What happens when you tap my link to the same KFC?

Morten

@MortenCopenhagen Thank you for your reply.

Just to answer your questions

The issue is consistently happening not just the kfc chinatown point singapore location. The issue is happening at multiple locations all over the place. It is very very random. No link to each other at all. It is only happening for my google map account only. So it is somehow account related

When I tap your link to the same kfc location, it show the same photo as I stated before

My phone operating system version is android 13

My google map version is 11.60.0703

Hope it will be fix soon. Thank you.

Thanks, @xmen123wood

I suspect that it is related to your internet connection.

Is the problem consistent on both wifi and mobile data?

Cheers

Morten

Hi @MortenCopenhagen

I have check and confirm that it is not because of internet connection

The problem is consistent on both wifi and mobile data but only for my this one account. I try on my other google map account on the same device and same internet connection within the same minute and there are no issue at all. I don’t understand why the problem is only in my this account

If in the future, you think I can just switch google map account. The google map account that have this problem is the main account I used to contribute all my photos to the google map. I put a lot of effort into contributing photos through this account. I can’t simply change account whenever I feel like it. To add photos in multiple places. I need to search places to add them. If I can’t even load the place then I can’t even add them at all.

Hope you understand. Thank you.

Hi @xmen123wood ,

Unfortunately, the team is not able to replicate the issue you’re reporting. As you also mentioned, your Local Guides account is active and not restricted in any way.

Please feel free to share feedback about your experience directly in the Google Maps app. Or, head over to the Google Maps Help Community where someone might have posted about a similar experience, or start a new post. Thank you.

@MortenCopenhagen Hi Morten, thanks a lot for tagging me and giving helpful guidance!

@DeniGu Thank for your reply. Firstly, may I know who is the team you are referring to? I have already share my feedback about my experience directly in the google maps app and head over to the google maps help community to post my question there. But I still have not found a solution that works. My problem seems a bit similar to this link https://support.google.com/maps/thread/3343410 but there are no solution in this link

This issue is really huge to me. This google map account that I used to post all of my photos have actually gotten the 2nd highest views growth per day in my country, Singapore, based on my findings. Having this issue kind of make it very difficult to post photos using my phone. If this issue is not resolved, I may completely give up on ever posting any photos anymore.

I really want to have my issue solve and I have tried everything but nothing works. I really hope that maybe someone could check my google map account directly to see what is happening to my account. Or maybe tag a googler or an expert to this question. Not sure whether it is even possible a not

I look forward to hearing from any of you. Thank you

I will also tag @MortenCopenhagen to keep him updated on my latest reply

I’m afraid you hit the end of support possibilities here on Connect.

You could be lucky that one of the experts in the Maps support forum can see through what could be causing this.

Please make sure that you cache is cleared for the Maps App.

Cheers

Morten

@xmen123wood

If the problem was on Google’s end there would be a ton of people reporting the same issue. And the Googlers would be able to reproduce the problem.

Unsupported link, @xmen123wood is a message that normally appears when you get a link of a photo in Google Maps for desktop and try to open it with the app.

Are you sure that the link you can’t open is the one of the place, and not the one of a photo?

I know you had already explored the issue in many ways but, just in case…
