Unable to add an emoji to comment

Hello, dear friends!

A couple times I have had difficulties, that I can’t add an emoji to comments.

You can see this on my screenshots.

When I tried to edit comment anything didn’t happen.

Regards,

Jane

Hie @JaneBurunina ,

Let’s see how it is going.

I can confirm there are two emoji in my comment and are not visible.

Hi @JaneBurunina

Yes, this is a known situation, that is related probably to the missing HTML switch on the editing in connect.

When you paste an Emoji, in fact you embed an image on the post. The “paste” action of a photo generate an HTML instruction for embedding the image on te post.

The issue about the HTML control has been, of course, already escalated, and we are waiting for a feedback.

Hopefully, it will be fixed soon

Stay tuned for more information

See you soon

Thank you @ErmesT for clearing this up!

Sometimes a few emoji wouldn’t hurt (lol)

Embedding images is much more than adding an emoji, @JaneBurunina , as in the same way you can add your photos without consuming your quote of photos loaded in Connect (you may know that we have a limit of 1000 photos for every user).

That’s why HTML is very important for many active users

Is it a bug or a new policy that prevents the use of emojis in posts and comments?

Are you talking about writing in mobile or in desktop ? @JanVanHaver

Ok, it was a text.

I believe it is related to the missing of the HTML selection, but maybe I am wrong @JanVanHaver

I tested both on mobile and desktop, both while creating new content and editing existing content @ErmesT . At first there was an HTML-error (which indeed also made think it was linked to the missing HTML-tab), but later on the edits were just made without error, but also without emojis.

About the HTML tab: do you know if that is missing (and will be back) or just removed (and will not return)?

Honestly I think it is missing, @JanVanHaver , but it is just my feeling.

But in any case I have tried some test for embedding an image (that’s why I like to have the HTML available). In the past it was possible to embed the photos simply “copying” a photo from an external source, and “pasting” it on the post.

The action generated automatically the code for embedding the photo.

Now it doesn’t work, even if I see that the space is occupied by “something” invisible

I love to see how small things that bother us seem to have the same effect on others. Thanks @ErmesT for inviting me to read and comment here after seeing that I was successfully adding emojis to my comments. I have no idea why it works and why it doesn’t. I can tell you that I have a Samsung S8 and that I just clicked on the keyboard emoji icon and chose the one I wanted, which worked like a charm. Perhaps the way the emoji is “called” has something to do with the issue? And since this one is not called via copy paste it has a distinct nomenclature? No idea! Just for the sakes of trying I will put here some basic emojis, out of curiosity I would like to know if they are visible for someone else than myself.

:hugs: :person_shrugging:t2:

Update 1: from the 5 I added only one was visible to me, which is indeed curious since the other ones were there until I clicked send. I’ll try to use five more…

Update 2: only 2 of the 5 I added ended up being published. This is indeed a mystery!

This feedback is helping a lot @Marichams , :star_struck:

As I wasn’t able to add it on the way you used, I am trying to replicate it now, to see if the issue has been solved, or if is related to Android, or keyboard, or whatever…

Well, it is working fine now.

Thank you so much @Marichams

It is everything fine for me now @VasT

What about you, @JanVanHaver , @JaneBurunina , @DanielKonakanchi ?

Funny, it is the first time in my life that I am able to help at anything just by adding emojis to a conversation @ErmesT  :joy: :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Yet it is indeed a strange situation, because if one emoji works from the same phone, the rest should so as well. Unless… they are “calling” at a different image or entity on the connect website library, does that make any sense?

Update: I tried using 3 emojis in this comment and none appeared :person_shrugging:t2::female_sign: there’s an emoji mystery to be solved! :mag_right:

Unfortunately, no, still not…
