Turning 3D buildings on and off

When fixing pins in a build up area it can be difficult to see the precise position of a pin. It is easier when the 2D rendering is used. Can I choose when I want to see 2D or 3D? Thanks.

Hello @MortenCopenhagen yes of course, you can change 3D to 2D view on Google Maps.

I add you some screenshots to guide.

When you look for a place to add, you have to select the view that you want to see with the layers button in the up right corner of the screen.

But I noticed that the 3D view it is not available in all the spots, for example in my neighborhood you can only view 2D mode.

I hope this helps you

Regards.

Thanks very much, @SebaasC Your pics are very helpful. The layer you are suggesting is called Terrain in English. Is shows elevations. When I choose it the 3d buildings sure do disappear, but then the 2d rendering of buildings are also gone. So the problem actually still remains. How do we toggle between 2d and 3d rendered buildings?

Hi @MortenCopenhagen

3D is available on Desktop, switching on satellite view, then on the 3D button, while it seems to be not available on Mobile: https://support.google.com/maps/answer/3031966

I have choose here a classic 3D view with the buildings rendered: https://goo.gl/maps/BN1p5pe8K1z7n5G76

If you use a desktop to visit the link, you will see the 3D, while if you use a mobile, you will only see a 2D version of the same map
