Turkey dinner from Black Bear diner - What are you thankful for this Thanksgiving day?

I live alone, so it make no sense for me to cook turkey dinner for Thanksgiving day. Well, there’s also the fact that I can’t cook, but that’s a different story for another time :stuck_out_tongue:

Luckily, I found out Black bear diner near my place that serves Thanksgiving dinner just for today. They have an option of smoked turkey, ham, and prime ribs. I decided to order the turkey dinner, and it comes with the usual sides of mashed potatoes and gravy, stuffing, string beans, cranberry sauce, and cornbread. It even includes pumpkin pie for dessert!

That’s a LOT isn’t it? I didn’t even finish half of it. Ate a bit for lunch, and going to eat the rest for dinner (and maybe breakfast too tomorrow?)

One suggestion I can make if you want to order from this place (they have several branches) is not to order through food delivery service. The food items are priced higher, and I assume that’s because they have to pay service fees (which can go up to 30%!). I found out today that they have their own website that can do online ordering, and the price is exactly the same as if you call in, or dine in at the restaurant. Their website link can be found on the Google Maps link.

In any case, this year has been tough isn’t it? It might be hard to find things to be thankful for. For me, I’m just thankful that I’m alive and breathing, and able to write this post, to share things with everyone here. And I’m sure there are a few other things to be thankful for here and here. We just need to look a bit deeper :slightly_smiling_face:

In any case, what are you thankful for? I know Thanksgiving is mostly an American holiday, but we can always be thankful for any day of the year right? I know some countries other USA also do black friday. Did you do any shopping (online, I hope). Any good deals? :stuck_out_tongue:

@iyudhi ! Happy Thanksgiving Ivan!! I think you already know what I’ll say… but what’s for the second dinner? I don’t think it is enough :joy:

But in all seriousness, I’m thankful to be able to stay healthy and active this year and also to have friends around the world who are also trying their best to stay healthy and active despite all of the challenges. This pandemic will become history soon!

@LuigiZ Haha yeah it’s good to be able to enjoy this kind of food once in a while. Preparing turkey dinner usually takes a whole day and there’s no way I can do it alone.

@Shirley Haha it may not look a lot, but it’s actually quite fulfilling. Ate it for lunch and dinner

Happy Thanksgiving! Wishing you could enjoy it happily. Just like you in a simple way, I’m thankful that I’m still alive and breathing until now when the others may feel unwell, even suffer because of the virus :pensive:

I’ve never tried Pumpkin Pie before. Curious with the taste

Do you like it?

@iyudhi Looks great! I also found out from a friend that it’s always better to order direct if the business has a delivery service… or if it’s near enough and not an inconvenience, to go and pick up the food yourself. That way all the money goes into the business rather split with a delivery company! That said, the delivery company are also keeping people in work so which local businesses do we support!? Anyway, hope your Thanksgiving meal went well! Was there some video game time in between meals perhaps?!

@Velvel Haha honestly I’m not really a big fan of pumpkin pie. But it’s the time of season for it, so I guess many places are serving it around this time of year. It’s good but a bit too sweet for my taste

@AdrianLunsong Yeah this is also my dilemma. A lot of people are out of a job due to covid, so a lot are currently doing delivery services (nobody wants to take Uber/Lyft), so I figure it’s good if they take orders. But then again, restaurants are usually paying commission up to 30%, so they’re not making much profit. Need to find the middle ground I guess.
