Trouble with reviews/posting images

I’m hoping you guys can help…. I am a level 10 contributor ( I love reviewing places!!) This week, I am having trouble posting. When I pick a place to review and try to add pictures, it says “ERROR” does any one know why this is happening and what I can do to fix the problem?? Thanks in advance!

Did you upload your video to Google Photos first?

Hello @Reeza, welcome to the Local Guides Connect community.
According to your screenshot you are using a Chrome browser under Windows, correct? Windows 10, Windows 11 or something else?

Did the error message appear after selecting or dragging a photo or immediately after clicking the button to add photos? You want to attach photos to a review or post them directly to the listing?

Did you try to refresh the browser with Ctrl-R? Or close the browser and restart again? Or Restart Windows? I believe, this a temporary problem, which can also be caused by an unstable Internet connection.

As @MortenCopenhagen mentioned, in case you want to post a video, it needs to be stored in Google Photos first, only Photos can be uploaded from your computer.

I am using Windows 11.

The message appeared after I selected an image from my reader card (SD disk) to insert/upload/attach to my review. This is how I have always done it.

I have tried refreshing the browser, shutting down and restarting the computer as well. I haven’t been able to do reviews for a few days now.

I have not tried to upload videos yet, hoping to do that this new year. The problem is with uploading photos.

This could be caused by the SD card too. Can you try to copy the files from the card to your disk and see, if you open the photos. As first step, I would open the SD card in Windows explorer to understand if the files can be seen and opened.

I tried to copy and upload that way but it does not work.

Can you see the photos in Windows before trying to upload to Maps?

I am looking at the pictures on my sd card itself. I can see them in windows as well.

The last try, I can think of, is clearing the cache in Chrome with Ctrl-F5 or try with a different browser.

As a possible workaround, I’d try to post the photos directly to the listing instead of attaching to the review.

Sorry, for now, I am out of ideas. Perhaps @MortenCopenhagen has some more tips …?

Hi @Reeza , I see you had many replies already, I have just one more question: what format are your photos? Google Maps primarily accepts PNG and JPG photos.
For other formats, it’s best to upload them to Google Photos first.

Yes, several replies. I have several thousand photos up on Google (all jpeg)

I can post a review as long as it doesn’t include photos. Which stinks, because I know people love images.

This problem started this week, I wish I could figure it out…..
