Trouble while creating a new place (several times result)

Today I created a new place in my neighborhood that has been recently open. While trying to send the information it seemed to fail before ending the process. My surprise is that now I have several inquiries with the same content. I’m worried that this place could appear several times which would a be a problem and of course it was not my intention. I haven’t found an option to cancel the repeated inquiries. Any suggestion about how to fix this mess? Anyone from Maps Team to help me? Thanks.

hi @JAFUENTES . Unfortunately, is not possible to cancel this request. However, if happens this place be created more than once you could to report as duplicated.

The place that you tried adding will probably show only once, since when you suggest an edit, it will be reviewed, to make sure that the information is accurate. You can also read more about edits and their statuses here.

If by any chance, your place appears multiple times, you can mark it as a duplicate as @AlexandreCampbell suggested, or you can flag this to us on Connect, tagging a moderator to let us know you need our assistance. :slight_smile:

Maybe would be a good idea to suggest the maps development team that contributors could edit / delete contributions before they are accepted.

And of course report that in certain circumstances (I happened to me recently as you know) when adding a new place the form doesn’t complete the process properly and retrying to send it cause duplicates entries.

@JavieraAu Unfortunately, it happened. My duplicated entry has been approved twice and there are still 6 pendent of approval, so the consequences of this is that I have to be vigilant and notify successive duplicates. Bad. I don’t know how this process has been designed but, for me, it’s been a bad experience:

1- I add an entry for a new business in my neighborhood.
2 - Every time I try to send the form I don’t get response while the process interrupts and the form remains on screen.
3- After several intents I noticed that I have 8 entries pending for approval for the same place and there’s no way to delete repeated. After asking in this forum a Google Moderator confirms that there’s nothing to do except wait. She insisted that probably it won’t be duplicated as it’s been reviewed before accepted.
4- Today I have received a notification of that a second duplicated entry had been approved. And there are still 6 pendent of approval, so this is going to be a tedious process to fix and avoid duplicates. Bad.

Local guides need Google to hear this bad experience, especially when we are trying to do our contributions interesting and we are helping Maps to be a better platform with our free of charge contributions to Google databases.

Ahora mismo si entro en “mis aportaciones” a través de Google Maps veo 5 entradas repetidas para Quenlla SCQ y dos mas pendientes de aprobación.

Desconozco como funciona el prceso de verificación pero recibo un mail cada vez que una de estas “entradas repetidas” se autoriza y ya solicité la anulacion de dos de ellas por “duplicado” pero ahora mismo me NO aparacen el buscador y si pincho el enlace desde Mis Aportaciones no conducen a ningún lugar…

Solo permanece activa una, que afortunadamente es corecta en este enlace…

Parece que el proceso de verificación si detecta y está bloqueando los duplicados. En ese caso: ¿por qué recibo mails diciendo que las nuevas entradas están siendo aprobadas…?

Muy confuso la verdad.

Me da rabia porque llevo varios años compartiendo información con Maps y por un error en la app (leer mi primera entrada de este hilo) se haya formado este lio .

Parace que por ahora el sistema está depurando los duplcados… aunque aún quedan dos pendientes de aprobar.

Con lo sencillo que sería que yo mismo hubiera podido eliminar las entradas duplicadas antes del proceso de verificacion… ¿verdad?

Si quieres tener la opción de podel eliminar entradas duplicadas creadas por tí antes del proceso de verificación, te recomiendo crear una udea en nuestro tablero Idea Exchange.
