Trondheim’s Viking Past

The city of Trondheim has so much to show for. Look at this view:

In 2019, I became a certified City Host — a tour guide — for tourists visiting the Viking Capital of Norway, Trondheim. On my trips to learn about the city, I took loads of photos along the river and of old and new buildings that are important to the town. Look at the cathedral for example:

Or the Main University Building:

And I learned about how the old traditions survive in the new time that is ours now:

I used all those picture to fill the Trondheim Map on Google with special places and short descriptions of the historical importance — both to remind myself and to let people exhibit history where they walk.

This is the best thing about being a Google Local Guide: reach everyone! Tell your story! I love it.

Another great time posting as a Local Guide, was when I myself was a traveler. Visiting Lofoten was the most picturesque traveling experience I have ever had. Mountains rising right from the sea, waterfall, Snowy hills in June, while I went Arctic Surfing with my brother. Around every corner, a picture of a waterfall would fit perfectly into Google Maps. One of my pictures hit many thousand views just because noone else had taken a picture there yet! This is what truly amazes me: The power of numbers. So many people contribute from all around the world, and yet you can still always find places that noone shared yet, despite the viewpoints really deserving that second look. Lets provide this beauty in the world with that second look — for everyone!

Let me leave you guys with yet another picture of my beloved bridge, which is right where I live:
