I got used to travel with blablacar for almost ten years as a driver and as a passenger as well.
This way gives us the opportunity to discuss during the journey and we sometimes learn a lot about country, job, study, etc.
With blablacar, it’s safe as we need to provide id card and credit card. The journey cost is automatically calculated by blablacar and the money transfer is automatically made after the trip. For example, a journey Paris-Brussels costs about 20 euros.
For the driver it is also an opportunity to reduce the cost of the fuel.
Like Google maps, on BlaBlaCar we can review the driver/passenger after a trip and after a while of experience we can get a title like a badge. In my side, I’m an ambassador 
Since the pandemic situation I stop the carpooling as I don’t want to wear a face mask for 5 hours in the car.
