Nestled at the foot of the Balkan Mountains, Tryavna has for centuries attracted people with their tranquility, magical views and the unique atmosphere of those past times that still make us proud that we are Bulgarians. The surrounding mountain seems to have preserved the Revival architecture and the genuine spirit of the beautiful Balkan city.
Here, from ancient times, people lived in harmony with the mountain. In the turbulent past times she has given them protection from the enemies with their high peaks and sheltered valleys. The humble grass and the ancient forests have given the population a livelihood.
Historical studies supported by archaeological materials bring us back to the Thracian era. Tombstone mounds and remains of dwellings mark the sites of the Thracian settlements. From here through one of the Stara Planina Passes, he crossed the Roman road from Discuturant (today’s village of Gostilica) to Augusta Trayana (Stara Zagora) known among the locals as the Vereian Way.

Hi @g_ignatov ,
Thanks a lot for the nice post about one of my favourite cities - Tryavna!
I’ve visited the city last summer and I was impressed by the architecture and history there. It’s really very beautiful and you have the feeling the you come back to the last century. I’ve tried there sand coffee for the first time and I had the chance to see the process as well.
Did you try there this coffee as well? What impressed you the most in this city?
Here are some photos of mine. I hope you will enjoy them:
