Trekking to the fifth highest peak of Bangladesh - Keokradong Hill - Part IV

This is the next part of my previous post.

After staying at Baga Lake the night before, I started the journey to Keokradong Hill at around 7:30 the next morning i.e. 8th October 2022. The distance from Baga Lake to Keokradong Hill is approximately 14 kilometers. The whole thing has to be done on foot. Mountain high low road. This path is as difficult as it is difficult.

I started walking to see the green ceremony in the mountains and the play of black monsoon clouds.

I met a stream on the way.

While climbing the hill we had to climb many steep paths. Adivasi shops were on top of every steep road. The shop was selling lemonade, papaya, banana, guava, orange, tea etc. I quenched my hunger and thirst by eating and drinking lemonade, papaya and banana. And I took dates and nuts with me.

A wonderful sight on the way.

I met a stream on the way.

On the way such wonderful scenes were seen.

There were two fountains on the way, one named Rock Hill, the other Shrimp Fountain. Both are beautiful. I saw some more jhiri. My fellow passengers bathed in the prawn spring.

At times the trail up the mountain was nearly half a mile steep. Low or flat path while climbing. It felt good to have a flat road. How many times we had to stop or sit or stand while climbing the steep path.

Several view points were found on the way from where the eyes were dazzled by the distant mountains, the valleys, the play of clouds, the farms of the Jhum farmers, the rows of paddy, turmeric, chilli, ginger, banana and mango trees on the hill slopes. One such wonderful view point is Tameng.

The surrounding scenery is so mesmerizing that it cannot be captured on camera. It is very sweet to hear the sound of the fountain and the sound of the stream at the bottom of the hill.

I gave a sample of a steep path.

Anyway, I reached Darjeeling Para (I will write another day) around 11:30 AM. I entered a shop at the entrance of the neighborhood, took off my T-shirt, had two lychee juices, corn flakes and banana and tea and started walking again.

Finally reached Keokradong hill at half past one in the afternoon. It took me a total of 4 and half hours. I was the last of my fellow passengers.

Keokradong Hill top.

The trekking path…

@SanjayBDLG You are so strong to do the 14 km and it’s great that you got to explore the fifth highest peak. I wish I could try that yummy fruit from the fruit stand, especially papaya. I haven’t had fresh papaya in years. :couple_with_heart_woman_man:

Wonderful post @SanjayBDLG . Your detailed description of the travel actually made me feel like i was there, with you all, on that trekking trail. I love those little adibashi kiosks at the hill tracts. The fruits sold there are always fresh. Hope you tried the bangla kola (banana) that is the hill tracts specialty. I love those.

Thank you for sharing your story and experience. Can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
