This is the next part of my earlier post.
After some time our guide arrived. By then our breakfast was over. He came and said our jeep was ready and we left for Baga Lake. Baga Lake is located about 70 km from Bandarban city near the lap of Keokaradang mountain.
On 7th October 2022 we started at 10.00 AM by Bandarban-Thanchi road. We stopped at Milanchari which falls 3 km south east of Bandarban town on the way to Shailprapat or Chimbuk. There is a police outpost here.
Standing on the road high up on the hill, one can see the endless green play at the eastern end and the enchanting Sangu river flowing in a spiral through the green nature.
Beautiful natural scenery at Milanchari:
The entire route from Bandarban to Ruma and Thanchi passes through the Chimbuk range. Mid Y Junction, from there the route to Ruma and Thanchi diverges.
We got down from the car at Y Junction as there was checking at the army post. In the meantime, we happily finished the tea party. After checking our journey started again until we reached at Tourist Assistance Centre, Ruma Upazila, Bandarban.
The army, BGB, police, local public administration office had to provide identification and register their names during the trip to Keokaradong-Baga Lake. Tourist Assistance Centre, Ruma Upazila, Bandarban is one such place.
Here it was mandatory to provide everyone’s name, address, mobile number, home phone number and copy of national identity card. No permission is granted after 4 pm.
After registering our names at the Tourist Assistance Center, Ruma Upazila, Bandarban, our journey resumed and again our names were registered at the Ruma Upazila Administration.
After a while the jeep started moving again on Ruma road. The road will gradually climb upwards. Deterioration after a long period of improvement. Improvement again, deterioration again. This is how we had to stop at Ruma Bazaar.
According to the rules, if you want to go anywhere in the mountains from Ruma Bazar, you have to take a local guide, you have to pay the service charge to the guide per day. There are guide societies in the market. Go to them and you will get a guide. Go to the army camp along with the guide and register the information like name, address, phone number etc. as per rules.
We bought bits and pieces from Ruma Bazaar as there was no big market next to it. And bought chicken and spices for the night barbecue at Baga Lake.
Again we entered our names at the tourist Check point in Ruma and left for Baga Lake.
To be continued…
