Before traveling to Agra, I had never known about this place. During my first visit to Agra, my plan was to explore the Agra Fort and the iconic Taj Mahal. However, the Taj Mahal was closed that day leaving me to search for an alternative destination on Google Maps. That’s when I stumbled upon this marvelous historical location and it turned out to be an unexpected highlight of my trip.
There is a ticket counter at the entrance with ticket prices varying for locals and foreigners, though both are reasonably affordable. Once you purchase your ticket, you can enter after a brief security check. There are no restrictions on bringing your carry bag with you making it convenient for visitors.
The Tomb of I’timād-ud-Daulah has many names, the most popular is “Bachcha Taj” or the “Baby Taj”. According to public data, this tomb was built between 1622 and 1628 by Nur Jahan who was the wife of Emperor Jahangir. It was her tribute to her father Mirza Ghiyas Beg also known as I’timād-ud-Daulah.
