Train Station Noodle Shops

いろり庵 きらく

One of the many charms of living in Japan is that you can always grab a hot bowl of noodles at a train station. Many of these restaurants will be located near gates or easy access areas for busy salarymen to get a quick bite to eat.

My favorite hot soba dish is called Kakiage soba:

Kakiage or kaki-age (かき揚げ, 掻き揚げ or かきあげ), a Japanese dish, is a type of tempura. It is made by batter-dipping and deep-frying a batch of ingredients such as shrimp bits

@TonyAlexander There’s something so uniquely comforting about grabbing a hot bowl of noodles, especially in the midst of a busy day. It’s incredible how these small eateries manage to offer such a quick yet satisfying experience for everyone, particularly the hardworking salarymen.

@Mo_TravelleerX especially now that the temps have dropped significantly here, it is definitely the best time to enjoy hot noodle dishes. The eateries have efficiency down to a science. You purchase a meal ticket from a vending machine and the kitchen staff receives the order electronically. In under one minute, you receive your meal hot and ready to eat.
