TRAC - August summary, 1/5

Dear Local Guides, Friends, and TRAC Enthusiasts,

A few days ago, I shared a post titled “Love Editing Roads? Introducing TORM & The New Roadmapper Hub!” introducing the new section on ROADERS.CLUB dedicated to TORM.
This is a huge milestone because it means we can now track our collective progress whether we are mapping directly in Google Maps or editing via Roadmapper!

Back in March 2023, our “Captain” @SholaIB launched a call to action, bringing friends together to add and edit roads on Google Maps. What started as a small initiative quickly took on a life of its own. Today, this passionate group known as the ROADERS has grown into an incredible global community, achieving results beyond what any of us could have imagined.

With so much activity happening every single day, we wanted a dedicated space to showcase the impact of this hard work. Moving forward, we are introducing a monthly progress report to honour and celebrate our most active road editors.

We deliberately don’t call this a “leaderboard.” This isn’t about competing for top spots as our “Captain Shola” always repeat.

It’s about celebrating dedication, recognising effort, and highlighting the real world impact our community reaches each month.

To make these milestones even more meaningful, we created our own NOB (Non-Official Badges). The badge design features a high mountain with the "Roaders Home” standing at the very peak symbolising the hard work, patience, and persistence required to build and trace the road that gets us all the way to the top! Every added kilometer, extended track, and corrected shape is a step up that mountain.

Before we dive into this month’s highlights, let’s get everyone on the same page whether you are a veteran Roader or joining us for the first time. Below, you will find a quick guide to our key terms, how to read our report tables, and what our NOB achievements represent.

Core Terminology

TRAC: Thousand Roads Adding Campaign

TORM: TRAC On Roadmapper

ROADERS: Any Local Guide who has participated in at least one TRAC or TORM campaign.

Our Campaigns

TRAC Campaign: A focused seasonal event running annually from March 1st to May 31st, centered on adding and editing roads on Google Maps. As our “Captain” Shola always reminds us: this is not a competition, but a pure team effort! Volume isn’t what matters most. It’s the shared spirit. Every single approved road counts, and we celebrate your very first contribution just as loudly as your thousands!

TORM Campaign: A targeted sprint, typically lasting one month, focused on road editing via the Roadmapper platform.

Understanding our NOB (Non-Official Badges)

If you are new to road editing on Google Maps, you already know it takes time, patience, and persistence.
In the beginning, edits might get pending or rejected. But if you keep pushing forward, your skills expand, and your impact grows. To celebrate every step of that journey up the mountain toward the Roaders Home, we established seven key NOB milestones:

  • PROUD (25 Approved Roads): In many ways, this is our most important badge. It honours your initial perseverance, the grit it takes to learn the ropes, overcome early rejections, and secure your very first 25 approved roads.

  • NOVICE (1,000 Approved Roads): You’ve built momentum, mastered the basics, and established a true rhythm. You are officially a core contributor shaping the map.

  • SAVANT (5,000 Approved Roads): Your sharp eye for detail and consistent dedication set you apart. Mapping has become second nature, and your work is making a massive real world impact.

  • VIRTUOSO (10,000 Approved Roads): A true master of precision. Reaching this incredible milestone requires extraordinary commitment and passion for the community.

  • GRAND MASTER (30,000 Approved Roads): An elite milestone achieved only by the most relentless mappers. You have reshaped entire regions and inspired mappers across the globe. Sure you learned how to edit roads under the bridges!!! … or not yet?!

  • LEGENDARY (50,000 Approved Roads): What once seemed impossible is now a reality. Reaching 50,000 approved roads places you among the true titans of the Roaders community.

  • MASTER CONQUEROR (100,000 Approved Roads): The ultimate (but, are we sure?) peak of the mountain! Reserved for those rare mappers whose monumental dedication leaves an indelible legacy on global map coverage.

How You Can Help Us

Remember: your support and feedback are vital!

As you look through the charts and statistics below, please help us keep everything accurate. If you spot a missing name, notice an incorrect flag or nationality, or see any data that needs updating, don’t hesitate to reach out and LET US KNOW!

Have an idea, suggestion, or proposal to make our monthly reports even better? We’d love to hear it. Your input is always welcome as we continue building and growing this platform together.

So, let’s dive into the figures and celebrations!

Who Are We Cheering For Today?

A round of applause and a warm boost of encouragement!

In true alignment with the spirit rooted in our hearts since 2023, today we celebrate and encourage the hard work of some very special friends.

1, 100, 1,000… The numbers don’t matter. It is that steady, unstoppable growth, the refusal to quit, that transforms ordinary mapping enthusiasts into true ROADERS. This month, we want to shine a light on and toast several of our friends!

PROUD NOB

We decided to kick things off by celebrating the PROUD NOB (PROUD Non-Official Badge). This is our special badge awarded upon the approval of your very first 25 added roads. It might sound like a small number, but we all know that the first few steps are always the hardest and most important! For this reason, we all join together in giving a massive round of applause to these new friends of ours:

Doni Hariadi, Natalia Antonella, Omar Fahd, Gildas Akpoka, Joni Gritzner, Seun Oladipo, Vandana Naidu

Congratulations, everyone! You are a true inspiration!

LEGENDARY NOB

PrasadVR aka MapTrailBlazer. What a wonderfully fitting nickname! Prasad started down this road alongside a small group who answered our Captain’s call way back in 2023. He hasn’t stopped growing since. We’ve spent countless hours with him discussing “techniques,” tossing around “ideas,” and brainstorming ways to perfect our shared passion.

His dedication has driven him past every single milestone, and this month he has crossed yet another to enter into… absolute LEGEND.
Yes, starting today, he can proudly showcase our exclusive LEGENDARY NOB because he has officially reached an astounding 50,758 new added roads! We can’t wait for your next milestone, Prasad, I’ll come shake your hand in person!

SAVANT NOB

ALG87 — The system on roaders.club has a special feature that monitors unusual growth in road editing. It helps us check server status, and for a while, this name was flying right under our radar… 3,000, then 4,000, then 5,000, and now he is already sitting at 8,110 new added roads!! His progression has been so lightning fast that we almost had to hold a double celebration. Today, we thank him for his incredible tenacity, which has earned him the SAVANT NOB for surpassing his first 5,000 approved roads on Google Maps. Today he has already smashed past the 7,177 mark! See you very soon, dear ALG87! I have a feeling our fellow roaders will be seeing your name again very soon next month.

WAITING FOR…!

And now, let’s send all our love, support, and roaring encouragement to those who are quietly and steadily creeping up on their next big milestone:

  • NOVICE NOB:
    • Ahmed Abdullah: less than 80 roads to …the NOB just a tiny push left until your NOVICE NOB!
  • SAVANT NOB:
    • Raj_Tayade: less than 30 roads to the NOB
    • Estevão: less than 80 roads to the NOB

Let’s go, guys! We are so ready to celebrate you next!

A Special Note for Our Supporters

One final message, and it’s an equally important one: let’s not forget our SUPPORTERS! We have around 60 wonderful Local Guides who registered for our various campaigns called by our “Captain,” but who, for various reasons, haven’t been able to continue just yet. To every single one of you: we are waiting for you, and your home on the road is always open!

While hoping and waiting for a special place in our loved LGC…don’t forget that we also have an active Telegram channel for all our daily chats and discussions: https://t.me/c/TRAC2023

And now, the moment has come to look closely at what the ROADERS are achieving and how our relentless work is fundamentally reshaping the Google Maps experience for millions of users worldwide!

As of today, our movement stands 183 ROADERS (including our incredible supporters), representing 52 different nations across the globe!

How extraordinary is that?

It is inspiring to look at these flags and realise that under every single one of them stands a friend.

Let’s dive into the details and highlight the key nations and contributors who played a major role in this impressive growth.

Yes, absolutely!

We deserve to celebrate our achievements and give ourselves a well earned pat on the back because acknowledging our impact fuels our spirit for the journey ahead!

ANALYSING AUGUST PERFORMANCE

This month saw an explosion of activity across several key regions. In fact, the tracking system flagged an extraordinary surge driven by a standout contributor who single handedly propelled his country to the #2 position globally: YEMEN!

Below are the top 10 nations that led the charge this month (Full original PDF):

Next, let’s look at the all time global situation, showing how each nation ranks based on the collective effort, dedication, and mapping power of its Roaders (Full original PDF):

And now, a moment of well deserved recognition!

While a pat on the back is great, celebrating our top contributors and showcasing our global strength is essential to our mission.

Here you will find every single nation where ROADERS are actively making a difference. Reaching 52 countries is a massive milestone, but with our shared passion and commitment, reaching 100 is well within our sights and one day, ROADERS will cover the entire world!

Listed in alphabetical order by country and ranked by total roads added, here are the Top 5 Roaders representing each nation (Full original PDF):

Have you taken a close look at the list of represented countries?

I know, the very first thing you did was search for your own flag… but did you notice how many countries are still missing?

Just to name a few: Algeria, Finland, France, Lithuania, Netherlands, New Zealand, Pakistan, Slovenia, UAE, and Venezuela.

Come on, surely we have friends or fellow Local Guides mapping in these spots! Who’s ready to ping their contacts and prove me wrong?

Captain!!! Hey Captain Shola (@SholaIB), how about we launch an official contest to recruit new friends and bring missing nations into the ROADERS family?

We could turn it into a fun global challenge to see who can invite the very first Roader from an unrepresented country!

In the meantime, let me break the ice and start the movement right now with a direct invite!

Hi Christophe (@ChrisCrn66)! This is Marco. I noticed that you’ve already started mapping and adding new roads to Google Maps. If I’m not mistaken, your road counter shows you’ve already added 62 roads! Would you like to join our team for our next big mapping adventure? Let us know. We’d love to have you on board!

And now… get ready, because things are about to get personal! In the next post, we will shine the spotlight on each and every one of us!

And now… it’s our time!

In this recap, we’ve already celebrated the friends who achieved new levels and earned their well deserved N.O.B. badges during August.

We know where ROADERS are based across the globe, and it’s crystal clear that we need to join forces to invite even more friends to join this incredible family.

Now, it is time to turn the spotlight onto each and every one of us. Because the true power of an extraordinary team lies in the dedication, milestones, and passion of every single individual within it!

Below, you’ll find the Top 10 Monthly Growers table, highlighting the amazing results achieved in August by the top 10 most active ROADERS.

Looking at these names and rankings, some remarkable stories stand out:

  • Sarath: after an epic, relentless sprint to smash through the 100,000 Approved Roads milestone and claim the prestigious N.O.B. Master Conqueror** badge**, he seems to be taking a well earned rest… Carpal tunnel syndrome maybe? :joy: Absolute legend!
  • Annaelisa: consistently present, sharp, and focused, she put on a fantastic sprint and rightfully locked in her spot in the top 10!
  • The true breakout star of August: Khalid! Remember when we mentioned Yemen’s huge jump on the leaderboard? Here is the secret behind it: Khalid single handedly logged an astonishing 4,081 Approved Roads this month! And do you know how many total roads Yemen gained as a nation? Exactly 4,081! Out of nowhere, with pure pride and dedication, Khalid propelled his country straight onto the global podium. A massive standing ovation for Khalid!

Here is the table (Full original PDF):

And as with any dynamic ranking, people move up and down. It’s all part of the excitement!

Tracking these shifts is always exciting, and August saw some truly impressive leaps forward. Leading the pack is our friend Priscila, who completely dominated the climbers’ list with a massive jump of 24 positions in a single month! (Full original PDF)

We wrap up our August breakdown with the mother of all ranking. The overall ranking that, let’s be honest, we were all eagerly waiting for!

The ALL TIME TRAC reveals a mind blowing achievement: a united team of 183 Local Guides, known as the ROADERS, has added a total of 973,293 new roads to Google Maps! We are now just 26,707 roads away from hitting the 1 MILLION milestone! We are truly enhancing the map day by day, making navigation faster, safer, and more reliable for everyone worldwide.

Here it is: TRAC ALL TIME ROADERS (Full original PDF)

Well team, I think we all deserve a huge round of applause, a solid handshake, and a heartfelt thank you for the monumental effort put in so far!

And now… let’s see what September brings!

Before we sign off, we need your help! Please review the tables carefully. If you spot any typos or mistakes in names, countries, or data, let us know in the comments below. roaders.club belongs to all of us, and it thrives on our collective feedback!

Happy mapping to everyone!

Road editing enthusiasts and lovers also know about another fantastic way to help complete Google Maps by adding those missing roads: Roadmapper. This is a dedicated Google platform currently accessible by registration and direct approval from Google itself.

Unfortunately, not all Roaders have access to it just yet, but we know that one of our wonderful Connect Moderators is working hard behind the scenes to expand access and welcome more people. We are fully confident in its success!

In the meantime, to stay ahead of the game, we have created a dedicated area for TORM26 right on www.roaders.club! All Local Guides who already have access to Roadmapper can now log their progress and track the community’s overall performance. If you missed the announcement, you can catch up on the discussion [right here].

It is definitely still a bit too early to talk about an official ranking for Road Mappers, but the statistics section is already up and running (though still evolving). It is experiencing tremendous growth and has been warmly and enthusiastically welcomed by our Local Guides and Roaders! We are getting everything ready while eagerly waiting for our Captain to announce the official start date for the upcoming TORM26 campaign.

As of today, this is where we stand: a dynamic, ever evolving work in progress. In the coming months, thanks to your invaluable support, the group will only grow larger, and brand new, even more exciting charts and analytics will become available on the platform.

That is all for the month of August.

See you all very soon!

Marco
