Touristically visiting a cemetery?

One of the most exciting things I have done as a local guide was to visit the Recoleta Cemetery in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Despite being a place where most people would get goose bumps and eerie feelings, the place has a lot of interesting stories. As I did not hire any local tourist guide, I did myself a research on Google and found some amazing things. Visiting there, you can find Evita’s grave, who was an important and very lovely Argentinean politician at her time. But that’s not all. You can also find some other amazing stories such as Rufina Cambaceres, the girl who died twice; David Alleno, the gravedigger who committed suicide to inaugurate his own grave and many others. My favorite story, though, was of Salvador María del Carril and Tiburcia Dominguez. These two figures were married and one day they had a big argument. By the time he died, they were still not talking to each other. She ordered a nice sculpture of him and placed it on the family grave. Then, before she died, she ordered another sculpture, this time it was a bust of herself. She strictly demanded that when she died, her bust would be placed opposite to her husband’s in a way they would never face each other again. And so this is it: now they are sitting back to back, never looking to each other for the eternity.

The sculptures of Salvador María del Carril and Tiburcia Dominguez in Recoleta Cemetery, Buenos Aires, Argentina. An argument that resulted in an eternal bitterness and destining the couple to never see each other again.
