Tour To Rabindranath Tagore's Kuthibari at Shilaidaha, Kushtia, Bangladesh

As I am a local boy I cannot count how many times I had to go to Rabindranath Tagore’s Shilaidaha Kuthibari at Kushtia. I had to go again for my friend who lives in Dhaka and had not gone there before. My friend was waiting from me at Chourhash bus stop. I went there and picked him and then started our bike tour to reach
Tagore’s kuthibari at Shilaidaha in Kushtia.

How to go Rabindranath Tagore’s Shilaidaha Kuthibari?
The simplest route to go Tagore’s Kuthibari is from Chourhash to Choraikal bus stop by bus or auto rickshaw and then Shilaidaha Kuthibari by local transportation. You can directly travel by car or others personal vehicles. Another route is available that takes a little bit more time. In that route you have to start from Kushtia town to Boro Bazar by auto rickshaw, have to cross river by boad or by trekking and then by local transportation to Shilaidaha Kuthibari. You may choose one way to go and another way to comeback. In both way your cost will be within 100 TK if you use local transportation.

When is the proper time to visit Rabindranath Tagore’s Shilaidaha Kuthibari?
Actually it varies with people’s nature. Some people would like to visit here at “Jonmo Joyonti” occation in 7 May. Many cultural program have been arranged here and gathered by people in everywhere. I would like to visit here at any day except government’s holly day. One thing keep in mind that Sunday is offday so donot make any plan to visit that day.

What types of activities you can do here?
First of all this is a historical place.Take time to walk whole complex area of Rabindranath Tagore’s Shilaidaha Kuthibari, I think you definitely enjoy it. You may spend time infront of ancient pond. If you are a music lover, you can take a change to listen live music near pond.

A merry go round is available here to provide services to the visitors. When you enter inside main Tagore’s Kuthibari complex area and museum you should spend time to conceive the real beauty of this historical place. After visiting museum you may visit Padma river that is very near to Tagore’s Kuthibar. Just outside the main complex area, there are many spaces available for picnic spot, vehicles parking and rest house. One thing, specially I want to mention that donot escape
Tagore’s Kuthibari without tasting “Kulfi Malai” (Local Icecream) that is very popular for it’s taste all over the country.

I like Rabindranath songs mostly rather than poem. His creations are very closely attached with our culture. Some songs by Rabindranath you may listen , Purano Shri diner kotha, Shokhi Bhalo Kare koi, Majhe Majhe.
