They said old is gold so does this building @Kakadadiep the “black and white” tile is different from what we have these days and never grow old, and I don’t know why they stop producing these kinds of tiles.

It looks so atmospheric:+1:t2: I wonder what this building was used for before it became a café. I love the stories of old buildings:slightly_smiling_face:

I believe mostly it was a home building @Khatira_SM prior to the civil war in Cambodia between 1975-1979, the Khmer was civilized we would call it “the golden age” era. Movie, music, boutique, education, manufacture and businesses were all blooming even attracted Singapore to learn from Cambodia. Movies were produced and sold to Chinese theater and many other countries. Manufacture and factories producing home products, cars, bikes, bicycles and many other things to distribute nationwide.

The living of people in Phnom Penh was at the peak. They already had beautiful buildings and so on. During the civil war and later, we went back to Year 0, restarted life from the scratch and the city was abandoned for those 3 years and many years later people slowly returned. Am I right @Kakadadiep @SophatCHY ?

@Sophea_Cambodia Thank you for the explanation:+1:t2: To be honest, I don’t know much about Cambodia’s history, and hearing about it from people who have actually lived there is far more interesting than reading about it on Wikipedia. It also makes the information easier to remember.
I hope your city will continue to thrive with each passing day:sparkles:

You are welcome @Khatira_SM it was over 40 years, and many of us still live in grief. Many families lost homes and family members that were so dear to them. Many intellectuals were killed and the rest fled to live in the west. I believe there were over 3 millions of Cambodians were killed during the war. You can watch this video for pre-war, produced to showcase the civilization that was once there.

I’m very sorry to hear that. I hope no one ever has to experience such pain again.
I watched the video you sent, and I found the scenes beautiful — especially the city views, the beautiful buildings, women walking with umbrellas, young people riding bicycles, and the school scenes, with children making models of airplanes and ships. @Sophea_Cambodia thank you.
