今年、スペインのマドリッドに住んでいる妹さんに訪問することにしました。この間、スペイン世界遺産で美しいセゴビア市に行きました。首都の北約90kmの場所にありますので、マドリードから日帰りで行ける観光地として人気があります。高速列車でわずか30分、バスでも1時間余りという便利な立地条件にある街です。私たちは車で行って一日だけ過ごしましたが、電車、バス、グループツアーなど、他にもたくさんの交通手段があります。マドリードからのオプション輸送でのセゴビアへの熱気球の乗り物もあります。熱気球の冒険で上から中世の街セゴビアを見ることができます。

セゴビア水道橋

散歩を始めるのに最適な場所はローマの水道橋です。古代ローマの時代に造られた水道橋は、2000年も前にローマ人が石を積み上げ、山からの水をセゴビアの町に運んだ橋です。この橋はなんと接着剤を一切使わずに、花崗岩を積み上げただけで出来ているのです。

こんな巨大な建造物が石だけで支え合っているなんて、ちょっと信じられませんよね。その堂々たる姿は見る者を圧倒します。

セゴビアの水道橋は、人間の想像をはるかに超えた巨大建造物であることに間違いありません。水道橋とツーリストインフォメーションの間にある階段を上ると展望台があります。人気の撮影スポットなので、ぜひ上ってみてください。

カテドラル：セゴビア大聖堂

次の目的地は威厳と気品に満ちたたたずまい「セゴビア大聖堂」です。カテドラルはマヨール広場にあります。マヨール広場は、時計塔のある市庁舎、レストラン、お土産屋などに囲まれている憩いの場です。広場ではマーケットが開かれており、野菜・果物・書籍・衣料といった様々な品物が売られていました。

建設開始から200年以上もかけて建設された大聖堂は、ルネサンス期の建築物にも拘らずゴシック様式で建造された、スペイン最後のゴシック建築です。

旅行の楽しみの一つは、何と言っても食べることです。そんな方にオススメなのが、セゴビアの名物料理「コチニーリョ・アサード」（Cochinillo Asado) です。それは子豚の丸焼きです。

生後間もない豚をオーブンで焼いたものですが、外はパリッとして、お肉はジューシーです。もちろん、どこのレストランでも味わえます。料金は22ユーロ～というのが、平均的なところです。

王城アルカサル

カテドラルから続いて5分歩くと王城アルカサルにあります。世界で最初につくられた長編アニメーション映画、ディズニー「白雪姫」に登場する城のモデルとなった「Alcazar de Segovia（アルカサル）」は、高さ100メートルほどの断崖の上に建てられています。

アルカサルの入口横にある建物は、チケット売り場になります。入場時間： 月曜日から日曜日 10:00-20:00、入場料は5.5ユーロ、フアン2世の塔は別途2.5ユーロ、オーディオガイド（日本語版あり）は3ユーロです。トイレは入口を入ってすぐ横にありますので、済ませておくと安心でしょう。そしてカフェテリアもありますので、疲れた方は休むことができます。

内部は豪華絢爛で、異なる時代のさまざまな展示品を見ることができます。ただ一つ注意して欲しいのは、高台の町なので、やたらと坂の上り下りが多いことです。それにアルカサルの塔も、階段が152段あったりします。どうか履き慣れた歩きやすい靴でお出かけください。
