It goes without saying that Local Guides in smaller countries or ones where there are significantly less guiding opportunities, such as Barbados, Cameroon and Rwanda, would have less chance of gaining enough points or photo views than those in larger countries such as the United States, Canada or the UK and therefore, these Local Guides have less chance of getting onto leaderboards based strictly on points or views!
Local Heroes > Local Stories
The leaderboards in this post, are different because they specifically take into account the country location of the participating Local Guides and in this way, they give Local Guides from even the smallest countries, recognition and an opportunity to be featured as local heroes in their country, and you will see many are.
There are many great local stories on the Country leaderboards and so if you’re a local hero and you’re not listed, or your country isn’t listed, then you and your country should be and you can make this happen by selecting the Register link here.

Readme - How to Read the Country based leaderboards (July, 2026)
Briefly, this is what you need to know about the leaderboards in this post. For more details see the leaderboard documentation and the Leaderboard System’s online context-sensitive help information.
The leaderboards in this post showcase the participating Local Guide leaders in each country for a wide range of different contribution metrics, including points, and photo, video, star photo and star video views. So while you may have made sizeable contributions and achieved very impressive results for a given metric, unless you are the highest achiever in your country for that metric you will not be listed in the respective leaderboard showcasing that metric.
For each contribution metric, the Global Points, Views & Contributions Leaders board lists the outright top contributor/achiever in that metric. Selecting a flag will take you to the Maps profile of the respective Local Guide. The leaderboards that follow drill down into the details of this top-tier leaderboard.
In this way, the Country Points & Views Summary leaderboard, lists for each country, the Local Guides having the highest points, and photo and video views, as well as the highest average views per photo and average views per video. Because of the size of this leaderboard and the constraints of Connect, this leaderboard is presented in two parts. In some instances the video views and average views per video are not shown for a given country. This is because the participating Local Guides in these countries have not used the Leaderboard System to provide the necessary video data.
The Country Star Views Summary leaderboard, lists the highest views for the most viewed photo and video in each country. The most viewed photo and video are referred to as our star photo and star video. The star photo views per day and star video views per day are also shown. In some instances the star video views and average views per video are not shown for a given country. This is because the participating Local Guides in these countries have not used the Leaderboard System to provide the necessary video data.
The Country Contributions Summary leaderboard, lists for each country, the Local Guides that have contributed the most in each of the different contribution areas such as photos, reviews, videos, answers, roads, lists etc. Once again, because of the size of this leaderboard and the constraints of Connect, this leaderboard is presented in a number of parts.
Where shown, [ ] around leaderboard sequence numbers indicate that this is the first time that the Local Guide has appeared on the Leaderboards.
Where ( ) shown around leaderboard sequence numbers, this indicate that this Local Guide levelled up/down on this leaderboard.
An asterisk * shown after a Connect Username indicates that that Local Guide is a Connect Moderator.
Double asterisks (**) shown after a Connect Username indicates that that Local Guide is a Googler.
Hovering over a Local Guide’s username will display the integration number that integrates that Local Guide’s details on the Leaderboards System and Connect; the umbilical chord if you will between the two disparate systems.
Selecting a Connect username will take you to either that Local Guide’s Connect Profile or to their HUB from where there are links to the Local Guides Connect, Maps and social network profiles.
If a number is shown in a small gray circle following a username, that number indicates the number of times anyone has selected that username to visit the respective Local Guide’s Connect profile or HUB.
While Local Guides may still be shown as being members of Connect, if they are shown as having been suspended from the Local Guides program, they will not be included on the Leaderboards.
Local Guides suspended or who have left the Local Guides program are also excluded from the Leaderboards.
Local Guides that have hidden their profiles will be excluded from some or all of the leaderboards.
If you have changed (a) your Connect username, or (b) your Maps profile in some way (e.g. changed your username or profile picture), (c) your Maps profile status from public to hidden or vice versa then you may not appear on one or more of the leaderboards. If so then you must provide the details in a comment on this post.
To provide a level playing field, Local Guides that should but don’t provide/update their video impact data will be excluded from all photo and video views leaderboards. In this case, Local Guides that make it onto the media views leaderboard will be shown with a [1] superscript following Connect username. To avoid being excluded from photo views leaderboards, Local Guides must use the Leaderboard System to update their video impact value.
A ? or the words “Not set” in a cell indicates that the respective value hasn’t been provided by or cannot be determined for the respective Country/Local Guide.
Hovering over a country flag will display the name of that country.
The data for the leaderboards in this post was read at 11055 on Tuesday, August 4, 2026 (UTC).
Local Guides included on the Leaderboards must check their entries for any errors or omissions, add report the details of these in a comment on this post. Please add links back to the specific board(s) you are referring to. Regarding omissions, please note point 18 above.
I’ve tried to make the large leaderboards in the Country leaderboard series more user friendly especially for mobile users however, because of this significant update and changes in the way they are being produced, your detailed checking would be appreciated. At the moment, I see that all countries are listed if if there are no Local Guide contributors in the country. I will attend to this shortly. But more importantly, is your data correct? Are you missing from any specific country leaderboard?
