Top 3 hiking trails Germany Bavaria naturepark Altmühltal (Franconia)

I see that there are no contributions for hiking trails Germany Bavaria the Altmühltal.
As I live in Bavaria and in the Naturepark itself I can write from my own experiences.

This is our top 3 hiking trails. All trails are suitable for beginners, children and advanced.

Please let me know if you like it!

TIP nr 1 JÄGERSTEIG!

Absolute topper and must do! An intensive walk with sharp climbs, rock crevices and endless views. A route of 6 km over the rocky cliffs and the same number of kilometers back through the flat valley.

Tip nr 2 Hiking trail Zwölf Apostel - Altmühltalpanoramaweg

The most beautiful part of the 200 km long Altmühltal Panoramaweg. The #mustsee of the Altmühltal nature park is the Dolemit rock formation Zwölf apostel (12 limestone rocks on a mountain slope between Solnhofen and Eßlingen). Millions of years ago arise from limestone deposits of a large lake. The route (total 8 km) is easy to do, the views are BEAUTIFUL and a reward (read ice or a cold beer) a must.

TIP nr 3 the mystical walking route to the St. Ulrichs Kapelle

From the holiday home in the castle the walking route nr 1 ‘de Kapellenweg’ leads to the Ulrichs Kapelle. An abandoned ruin in the middle of a hill with a mystical touch. A beautiful route through the forest where you will not meet anyone for hours.

Want to stay on one location and hike these three trails. Visit Schloss Moehren located in the center of the Naturepark.

Hi @SchlossMoehren ,

Thanks a lot for the nice post!

I liked a lot your description about the trails. I liked the most this one: Hiking trail Zwölf Apostel- Altmühltalpanoramaweg. Have you ever been in Dresden? Not so far from the city is situated the Saxon Switzerland National Park. I recommend it you to visit it if you like such trails in the nature, it’s really very beautiful.

I am curious in which city do you live? Your posts are really very nice and it will be very nice if you make another post for example about your city or something else in German language, if you speak it.

I would ask you to remove the link of the website of the Castle Moehren because it can be considered like promotion. Keep in mind that we do not allow promotion of any nature here on Connect — self-promotion, commercial content, etc. are in violation of the Local Guides program rules.

Hi PoliMC

Thanks for the compliment. Just trying to discover the options of Local Guide. I removed the link. Sorry for that.

Saxon National Park I know. Still haven’t had the opportunity to visit yet.

My City lies between Nürnberg and Munich in the center of Bavaria.
