Top 100 Google Maps Local Guides Star Videos (May, 2025)

It’s looking a bit lonely for @katydarhel and @IzzyOz on the lower boards. Congratulations you two.

I’m missing from this Leaderboard @AdamGT. Is that because I have a new Star Video, or are there errors on this board to be corrected?

Thank you very much @tony_b !!! It’s better to be lonely than not to be at all .

Whereas my monthly increase in views was fairly consistent, it was a relatively low figure (just under 2,000 per month), therefore the increase in total number of days as each month passes, leads to a steady decrease of the average.

Meanwhile my new star is one that increased by big numbers in the months leading up to its ascendency (over 20,000 per month), and if it continues like that now that it is the Star, perhaps my average would start to climb.

Same as my experience @TerryPG. I unsuccessfully looked at the ReadMe notes to find an answer, but I’m sure @AdamGT will have an explanation for it.

I know you video is a new Star video as mine also. Hopefully this info helps AdamGT.

@StevenBerlin I hope this isn’t too simplistic, but see below comment I’ve quoted from another thread

Please let us know if you need further help or clarification.

@StevenBerlin,
The process is simple. The only difficulty is scrolling down through your images. As far as I know, no one had found an auto scroll app or extension that works on Windows chrome.
Some people find that hitting the down page down key repeatedly works. It hasn’t really for me. I prefer grabbing the little slider on the right side of the window and dragging it to the bottom. It takes Chrome a moment or two to refresh and then the button the slider goes back up some. If you do this two or three times or maybe more if you have a really large number of images , then when you search you should find a number of videos. The nice thing about this is that as you scroll down the search auto extends and you don’t lose the ones you already found.
I just saw that you are dealing with 100,000 images :scream:
No wonder this is such an overwhelming task for you.
I went into your profile and sorted by views (usually a billion won’t let you do it) scrolled down 5-6 times and found nothing when I searched.
I got this far

I marked the slider I refer to with a red circle and arrow
Do you remember roughly how long you started posting videos?
I resorted by date and scrolled 5-6 times and found 55 videos including these

Of course sorting by views is the most reliable way to find your star video, but if you haven’t been posting videos for a very long time, sorting by date might be faster. At some point continuing to scroll won’t increase the number found.
I have an idea about building an auto scroll for desktops, but it will be a while before I get around to working on it.

@Rednewt74 thx for doing all that. I only ever use my android for everything maps. Scrolling, posting, searching etc. I still dont understand how to spot the videos so quickly?

I really only started posting videos in the last 6 months. I had only posted 4 videos total the first 5 years.

That matt thing sounds super easy. I never use my desktop but i will try this with the ctrl f and search for O:

@tony_b is that a zero or a capital oh?

It is a zero. You’re searching based on the fact that videos are typically zero minutes and some number of seconds long, so the search is defined as 0: which could be 0:06 or 0:15 or anywhere up to 0:59

I couldn’t find my name under average views leaderboard as well @TerryPG and @tony_b.
And I also had I new star vídeo and also followed all the updated process as usual.
As you said, hope @AdamGT can support us in this matter.

Appreciate the gesture about that @JustJake.
Level 10 is a big deal indeed! :tada:
And definitely TRAC helps to paved the way towards it :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

I’m missing from the average view per day
Did I miss something :grimacing: @AdamGT

Unfortunately the search feature is only available on a desktop or Chromebook. It definitely sounds like you should sort by date not views. Scroll enough to get back to 9 months or a year ago and that should do it. The find < > buttons will easily let you go through the videos. If I were you I’d go to the last one found (i.e #55 of 1/55), which will be the oldest and work back from there. Hint: when the search shows 0/55, hitting the
“<” mark will take you to the last one. Good luck and keep us posted on what you find.
Hint #2": Once you find your star, to find it again, do some scrolling and then search for the name of the POI.

Congrats, and good info to see and see. One again, has me thinking about the approach to how to start a video and end a video. That was my line of thinking over the last few weeks on holiday. So far, top listings and many views.

@Rednewt74 thank you for the tips on using the pc for searching and the symbols to use for fast scrolling.

This is not going to work @Rednewt74. Sorting by Date will give you views all out of order, and sifting through those manually is only practical if there are a very small number of videos. I have 184 videos and my Top 10 are neither my newest nor my oldest. Please see table below, where I compare my highest ranking videos (by my views method), with my 10 oldest videos and my 10 newest videos (by your date method). You’ll see in yellow and green that #4 of the Top 10 is the 6th newest video, and #6 of the Top 10 is the 8th oldest video. It was quite tedious but I also scrolled through all 184 videos to find the relative position of those that appear in the Top 10. I couldn’t do this if there were 1800 videos instead of just 184.
