Tomb of John Russell Colvin, Agra Fort, Agra.

Grave of John Russell Colvin, Agra Fort, Agra, Uttar Pradesh, India.

While visiting Agra Fort, tourists reach Dewan-I-Aam which is the last monument of this series by a fixed route. There is a tomb on a square white marble’s floor in front of the Diwan-I-Aam in the open sky. This grave is of John Russel Colvin, who remain the Lieutenant Governor of North West Province from 1853 AD to 9th September 1857 AD, till his death due to Cholera.

He was an Anglo Indian and his family was migrated from Scotland. His father was a merchant. This grave is protected by an iron grill and given a shape of Church. Depicting circular pillars and arches and topped with hipped roof having inscriptions.
This is a just picturesque attraction as not of much historical significance. This was the time when the flame of revolution had spread in India, due to which the dead body of John Russell Colvin had to be buried in the Agra Fort itself, but the place which was chosen can never be called proper.

Because it doesn’t match with the Mughal Architecture. It’s at the entrance at one corner of the Public Audience Hall, and this Hall is a masterpiece of Mughal architecture. Second he was not a notable personality, if; he was burried in the opposite courtyard in the center then might be attractive and symmetrical, this is purely my view.
