Tokyo is one of the most popular cities to visit for Taiwanese. There are dozens of reason why we love Tokyo because of its culture, friendly & sweet people, geographic location…etc and most importantly, food.
There is a great variety of food options in Tokyo from authenticity to fusion and tradition to modern. I would like to share what we tried and separate them into 2 parts.
Hōtō
Most people try Hōtō (餺飥麵, ほうとう), which is a noodle soup and popular regional dish originating from Yamanashi, made by stewing flat udon noodles and vegetables in miso soup during the visit of Kawaguchiko.

Ramen
Ramen Hayashida Shinjuku is definitely a hidden spot for local people with great reviews on Tabelog食べログ, which is like yelp in Japan.

Tonkatsu
Tonkatsu Maisen Aoyama Honten is one of the most famous chain restaurants for Tonkatsu in Japan.
Their fried pork chop was super juicy inside with crispy & chunky layer. The best way to enjoy is dipping in the special sauce with white radish purée.

Japanese Shabu-Shabu
Breakfast Teeshoku
Kozantei Ubuya is the best hotel we have ever stayed in our life so far with private hot spring. Their dinner and breakfast were extremely delicate and delicious. We had 2 sets of Wagyu shabu-shabu for dinner and grilled salmon teeshoku which is known as a meal set for breakfast.
