Toad sweat is Japanese ointment ?

Mt. Tsukuba is located in Ibaraki prefecture in the eastern part of Japan and consists of Mt. Nantai and Mt. Nyotai.
There is a shrine at the top of each mountain, and Tsukuba Yama shrine is at the foot of Mt. Tsukuba.

Since ancient times, residents of this area have worshiped Mt. Tsukuba. It’s called “Sangaku religion”, Sangaku means mountain, and there are a lot of “Sangaku religion” as Japanese custom and traditions.

Another specialty of Mt. Tsukuba is “Gama no Abura”.
Gama means a big frog , like a toad. Abura means Oil, so Gama no Abura is Oil made from toad’s sweat.
Sweat ? Can a toad sweat ? Incredible. Yes, it’s an advertising phrase by sallers of Gama no Abura.
They put a toad into a mirrored box, and then a toad looks at himself and begins to sweat gradually for too ugly . This sweat is main ingredient of Gama no Abura. Of course it’s lie.

But in fact Gama no Abura is sold as ointment for gift now. This is the photo .
