Title: Finding the "Green Heart" of Delhi: A Sustainable Guide to the City

The Story

Living in a mega-city like New Delhi, it’s easy to get caught up in the hustle and the traffic. But as a Local Guide, I’ve made it my mission to discover the “Eco-Lungs” of our city—those peaceful, sustainable spots where nature is protected. Today, I’m sharing how we can explore Delhi while being mindful of our environment.
My Top Eco-Friendly Picks
The Yamuna Biodiversity Park: A stunning example of ecological restoration. It’s perfect for birdwatching and seeing how a degraded landscape can be turned back into a thriving forest. It’s a “cinematic” escape right in our backyard.
Garden of Five Senses: This isn’t just a park; it’s an interactive space designed to make you connect with nature. The solar-powered lighting and rain-harvesting features make it a leader in sustainable urban design.
Sunder Nursery: A UNESCO-awarded site that balances heritage with biodiversity. With over 300 tree species, it’s the best place to witness Delhi’s green heritage.
Sustainable Travel Tips for Local Guides
The “Metro-First” Rule: Delhi has one of the best Metro networks in the world. I always try to map out my “Local Guide Photowalks” using the Metro to reduce my carbon footprint.
Plastic-Free Photography: When I go out for a shoot, I always carry a reusable bottle. Many of our heritage parks now have clean water ATMs—look for them on the map!
Digital Over Physical: Instead of taking paper brochures at monuments, I take high-quality photos of the information plaques and upload them to Google Maps for others to see.
Why Sustainability Matters
As Local Guides, we aren’t just reviewers; we are the guardians of our local maps. By highlighting eco-friendly spots and practicing sustainable habits, we encourage others to respect our city’s environment.

What about you?

Fabulous post, dear @puneet11 :+1:

Recently, I visited the Wagaskar Garden in Pune.

It was a beautiful and lush green park in the middle of the concrete jungle.

Here’s another view:

BTW, I have also visited the Garden of Five Senses and the Sunder Nursery in Delhi. :+1:

That’s fantastic! @TusharSuradkar Since you’ve already visited both.
Those two locations are actually the gold standard for what Local Guides Connect moderators look for in featured content.

It’s one thing to read about these places, but standing in the Garden of Five Senses during the golden hour is a whole different experience! I was recently there and at Sunder Nursery, and what struck me most was the contrast—one feels like a modern art gallery in nature, while the other feels like stepping back into a Mughal emperor’s private retreat.
As a Local Guide, capturing that ‘cinematic’ vibe in these green spaces is my favorite way to show that Delhi isn’t just about the hustle—it has a soul that breathes..
