I just read this new article in an online newspaper in Denmark:
Source: Humac under rekonstruktion: Lukker butikker – Ekstra Bladet
This allowed me to make 14 edits on Google Maps, as the shops’ closures were verified by the journalist. He called their customer service and some of the shops’ answering machines to confirm they are closed today and until further notice. The authorities and lawyers get involved when a business needs reconstruction, so this is sufficient evidence in my eyes to make the edits. One of the stores has the cover photos taken by yours truly.
So I went ahead and zoomed out on Google Maps to show all of Denmark, then searched for the shop name Humac, and 14 stores were shown. I suggested edits to close all of them (except the head office) as temporarily closed.
All edits are currently pending.
This topic is just to remind you how ordinary news stories about legal foreclosures and reconstructions can be a source of easy edits on Google Maps.

This is interesting @MortenCopenhagen
Thank you for sharing.
However, assuming some of these stores relocate to a new place, I am thinking as someone who has a business listed on the map with loads of great reviews. I would prefer to move my business location together with my great reviews than start afresh. Given the aforementioned, listing such business as closed may not be the best thing. What do you think?
Hi @MrFreez
Keep in mind that businesses that are closed temporarily AND permanently on Google Maps can always be reopened. Only places marked as Does not exist here are deleted from the database.
Oh yes, you are right. Thanks for the clarification @MortenCopenhagen
Great example of how we can make an impact on Google Maps through local verified news. Thanks for the share @MortenCopenhagen
This has been happening a lot in recent years with the uncertain economic climate, policy swings from the government, municipal construction, etc. @MortenCopenhagen
I agree, but bad/inadequate business practice is certainly also at play.
So true! I actually attended an event called FxxkUp Nights (FUN), where entrepreneurs share candid stories about their biggest failures. One speaker burned through millions when their NFT digital art business crashed almost overnight. Another owner lost both his business and a close friendship over financial issues… @MortenCopenhage
