Pls can someone enlighten me more on timeline and what it is used for. I want to know how i can make good use of my timeline on google map app. I find it confusing to use. Thanks

I rarely use the timeline. I see lots of inaccuracies as if the location is sampled less frequently that optimal.
I keep it on because it can help me locate which date I did what. Simply a support to my memory. Examples include: the transport authorities reached out and told me I forgot to pay for a trip. In my timeline I could quickly check what the problem was. I guess if I some day need to prove where I was as a witness the timeline could also come in handy. So far I only served as a witness once in my life 
Iām also using Google Rewards. Ther I often gets asked when I visited a certain shop or business. When in doubt I check my timeline.
So basically, I agree with you that it is not of much use.
