Timeline not working iOS 13

Since upgrading my iPhone 8+ to iOS 13, my timeline is no longer recording any location history. I have searched exhaustively and have checked all of the options and settings suggested and I have deleted and re-installed Google and Google Maps. Without any timeline history, I don’t have anything to contribute to.

Hi @JimInAurora ,

Thanks for reaching out.

I have troubleshooted on a device working with IOS 13, and I wasn’t able to replicate what you are reporting. In this case please make sure to set up and manage all the Google Maps Timeline settings as listed in this article.

Since your post is a question, I am going to move it to the How-tos section of Connect, as this is the place where you will receive tips, and share yours.

Hi @MashaPS ,

Thank you for responding. Prior to updating to iOS 13 (and subsequent updates), I only kept the Google app running and would always force close Google Maps when not in use. The Google app was recording my timeline history prior to iOS 13. A few days after I wrote that note about my troubles, I had a thought to launch Google Maps and leave it running the background. After doing that, my timeline is once again populating.

Please pass that on to the developers. Maps drains my battery when it is running all the time, thus my reason for force closing it when not in use.

My Timeline is also not working, and apparently has not been since September 2017, which I just discovered today. The only significant thing that happened in 9/2017 was I upgraded from an iPhone 6S to a 7, but since I backed everything up before switching I don’t know why that would have changed anything. I have read every article and tutorial out there. I have deleted the app and re-downloaded it. I have made sure my location data is always on. I have cleared the app data. No matter what I do my Timeline just will not record activity.
