It’s all about diversity and inclusion. When we accept people for who they are when we can accept us for who we are and appreciate and respect the differences and see the beauty of diversity, I believe that’s when we become really human.

I’ve honestly never celebrated Pride before, because I felt like those parades around the world were mostly filled with young hot people, celebrities and stuff, and somehow I felt like they weren’t really representing me as a pretty normal guy who’s just average-looking, someone who could use some exercise and who doesn’t really stand out in any particular way. I always felt like Pride was some kind of huge party to celebrate diversity but somehow I never felt like it celebrated me because I never felt like I could fit in. But in a way I was just self-sabotaging once again by thinking I wasn’t “good” or “hot” enough for that kind of celebration, because as I just said, Pride month and those Pride parades celebrate diversity and the fact that it’s perfectly fine to be gay, lesbian, transgender, bisexual, non-binary, etc. I never realized I wasn’t proud of myself because I never really accepted myself as a gay man, I’ve always known I was gay but there was always some kind of shame in that statement deep inside of me… But not anymore, and this year I’m trying to approach self-acceptance rather than insecurities, and I’m trying to be confident rather than shy, and I’m definitely celebrating Pride even if it’s just by learning to become a better version of myself! I want to be proud of myself as a human being, as a gay man, as someone who loves pizza, as a singer-songwriter, etc., but I’m also proud of all the people who believe in themselves, who stand up for others, who fight for our rights and such, and this year I truly believe Pride will celebrate us all!
