I had never given up my dream to pursue Indian Classical Dance.
There are 8 different forms of Indian Classical Dance and Odissi (the form I specialise in), is the oldest of them all. Originating in the Hindu temples of coastal Orissain India, it specialises in bhangis (postures) and abhinay (acting).
The yearly Odissi festival held in Konark Sun Temple in India, is one of the most prestigious performance for any Odissi dancer.
We carry on the legacy of Odissi and our tradition and culture, in the heart of London, in the vibrant and diverse Brent community. Bringing a part of our culture in the form of dance, we try and instil this into our next generation. The Yellow is a newly built cultural and community hub at Wembley Park, where you can learn and perform various cultural activities.
It it also a great place for young and/or upcoming artistes to showcase their talents. They also organise the Diwali -Light Up The Night which is the gala Diwali show in West London, once again a prestigious platform for artistes like us.
We had also performed at The Yellow open Mic and it was a delight to see our poster and photos are featured on their website and around Wembley Park. Currently of course, The Yellow is closed due to COVID19, but we hope to see it up and running again next year.
