The Venetian Carnival: A celebration of beauty and fun

Hi @EliKrumova ,

Thank you for your compliments! The history of the Venetian carnival is indeed very interesting and the performances this year are quite impressive as far as I can see from the photos of other Local Guides. Have you been to a similar festival? Share with us some of your favorite local festivals.

Hi @ErmesT ,

Thank you so much for adding this wonderful photo to show us the beauty of the carnival this year. I wish I lived a bit closer to Venice, so I can join as well :slightly_smiling_face:

Hi @KarenVChin ,

Thanks so much for your comment and for telling me about the mini Guggenheim Museum. I haven’t visited it yet and I haven’t tried the gondola ride, so here are two good reasons for me to visit Venice again :slightly_smiling_face:

Good luck with learning Italian if you decide to start the course and speak to you soon!

Hi @KatyaL

I found your post while searching for any latest posts on the Rio Carnival, so glad I got to read something new today about the Venetian Carnival. Is this only me who could find similarities between the two like the masks & costumes?

I enjoyed reading the history part the most where you mentioned how the carnival became illegal and eventually revived spectacularly. The architectural details of the Saint Mark’s Basilica are simply breathtaking.

Hi @ReemaGandhi

Thanks so much for reading my post! I’m glad it caught your attention and you enjoyed the photos.

If you have any photos from the Rio Carnival we could try to compare them, but in general I agree that they might look similar in regards with to the masks and costumes. They’re both very colorful and spectacular.

Have you ever been to Venice? Have you attended a similar carnival before?

Hi @KatyaL

I have never experienced anything closer to a Carnival! But I’m sure its something extraordinary and worth being a part of. Do you attend Venetian Carnival every year?

Hey @ReemaGandhi ,

I enjoy travelling to Italy, but I’m not going every year to Venice for the festival. I’ve visited Venice a few years back and I liked practically everything - the historical places, the architecture, the gondolas, the local people and the food. If you have a chance to go, don’t hestiate to visit it.
