Last time I introduced you to the environment of Taiwan’s low altitude botanical gardens, but today I will introduce the tropical rainforest greenhouse, which is the huge building with plants, fish, and amphibians in the photo. Since there are so many species in the rainforest, I will introduce some special species in the rainforest greenhouse!
The tropical rainforest greenhouse of the Botanical Garden is one of the facilities of the National Museum of Nature Science in Taichung, Taiwan and is quite large and high. There are also some waterfalls in the greenhouse and water sprays are sprayed regularly to fully simulate the environment of the tropical region. You can observe all the plants from the canopy to the bottom of the trees, and all of them are introduced.
There are many plants in the exhibition, especially sea coconut which is an endangered plant and very difficult to survive and grow. The only living one in Taiwan is here, and it’s being taken care of very well! Well worth seeing!
The room on the ground floor introduces the common fishes and amphibians of the Amazon basin. The Paiche is a very popular creature, and every week there is a feeding show and explanation about the fishes of the Amazon basin, very professional!
The poison dart frogs in the greenhouse are very cute and brightly colored. The poison dart frogs in the wild are poisonous because of the toxicity of their food, but the poison dart frogs kept here eat fruit so they are not poisonous.
There is a wealth of knowledge about the biology of the Amazon Basin to be learned here, so I love it and hope you like it too!
PS. A general public ticket is NT$20 (about 72 cents), while seniors or children (parents with children) are free or half-price. The ticket price is quite cheap.
@Hansen_Yang Thanks for sharing about this special place in Taiwan. It must be extremely huge to be able to contain so many full grown trees. It’s so lovely to be able to visit and learn about the Amazon jungle right there in the city. I’ve always found the colourful dart frogs fascinating. So colourful and so poisonous.
Thank you for sharing these beautiful photos with us, the garden looks amazing!
Is this a famous destination among locals and tourists? Is the ticket price affordable?
Feel free to edit your post and as some more details about it. You can edit your publication following the helpful instructions that you will find here: Edit your post - Why and How To.
