The Tomb of Balthazar: the Ethiopian king who visited baby Jesus.

They say that Balthazar, one of the three Wise Men / Kings / Magi who visited baby Jesus when he was born, was really an Ethiopian king and that he was the one who brought the gift of incense.

They also say that this spot in Aksum, up in the North of Ethiopia, was the tomb in which he, his son and his slaves rested for the afterlife.

After being sacked by a bunch of $(@·% [I will censor myself due to respect of you, the reader], the only thing left are the spaces in which one day their mummies dwelled… And while it is interesting from the anthropological side, there is really not much to see nor photograph. But while being there I noticed the warm expression of the local man who was in charge of showing us around, so I decided to focus on him.

Have you ever been forced by the circumstances to turn your attention to a different subject than the one you were intending to look after?

It is fascinating to hear that such historic place exist. All it need is more publicity and it would make a good tourist attraction. @Marichams thanks for sharing.

Hi @Marichams ,

Interesting story, thanks for sharing! Did you do a research of this place before going or did you find out by chance? It’s really impressive to go to such places and learn about history.
