@MoniDi , First, Happy birthday and best wishes.

Reading your topic and it’s like traveling with you. You tried all original Italian pastries. It’s so tasty! I was reading your topic and I said to myself " I hope she will mention Cannoli " and when I saw it. I was so happy. Italian cuisine and pastries are so rich in organic ingredients. It’s very healthy! Whatever you eat, you don’t feel heavy!

Thanks for sharing.

When you say NYC, the famous cake it comes to your mind is "Cheesecake ", a soft cheesy cake. As ingredients; cream cheese, eggs and sugar with the base of cookies and butter.

Hi @MoniDi ,

oh wow what a nice post, thank you for it!

I’ve born in Sorrento e lived many years in that area, I still have my parents around there and my sister living in Agerola (mountain over the Amalfi coast).

You visited quite some places and tasted very delicious stuff! I didn’t see a mention, do you know / have you visited the most famous one, Sal De Riso? He is the creator of the famous cake “Ricotta e pera”, now a very famous baker all over Italy and outside, his shop is amazing .

Hey @AdamGT ,

I couldn’t say it better! What about your favourite dessert and where do you usually enjoy it? Do you like making sweets at home or you have a preferred pastry shop?

Wow @marcorp ,

The last cake made me drool a bit, I want to try it because it looks amazing. Where did you try these desserts? Can you recommend some places in your area? I know that you like your coffee with sweets on the side so maybe there is the perfect cafe where you can enjoy both?

By the way, I have never tried lemon tart before. I should correct my mistake, it looks tasty and light.

Hey @SunshineNY ,

Thank you, it was nice to have my birthday in Italy where the people are so friendly and kind. It’s true what you said that I didn’t have any regrets after a meal or a dessert. Not to mention it was so hot, it literally felt like a sauna. Some calories must have been burnt from that.

Hi @SunshineNY ,

I love cheesecake with blueberries, that’s my favourite kind even though I’ve tried a chocolate version but it’s just not the same. I am into fitness and nutrition so I am trying to find a healthier version of this dessert but so far nothing comes up.

Do you make cheesecake at home?

Hey @MoniDi

My fave dessert you ask!! Why it’s impossible for me to say as being just a mere mortal there are so many desserts that I just cannot and will not refuse. I enjoy them most in bakery type cafes where they are freshly baked on the premises and this can be upmarket places where the presentation is amazing as in the following four photos:

or in some not so upmarket places and where presentation isn’t so important but still the baking is just so mouth watering fresh as in the following example photos

Hey @LuigiZ ,

Sorrento was a lovely city, you are lucky you were born there. I’ve checked Sal De Riso on Google Maps and it looks amazing. It’s almost sad that I have missed it but I didn’t even go to Minori. I just didn’t have enough time to see everything. Now I have a reason to go back and try the delicious goodness that place could offer. What is your favourite dessert there? What’s your favourite dessert in general?

Hey @AdamGT ,

I love everything you shared! To me plating is one of the most important things when you eat. The way the dish is presented to you determines whether or not you are going to finish it. The good taste comes after. I don’t always go to fancy places but when I do, my favourite part is to be served with a stunning dish. Do you have a favourite place where you can enjoy something like that?

Yay @MoniDi it’s so nice that we are at one on this. As you have seen from my photos in my above reply, I too don’t always go to fancy places but when I do it does give you a different experience. As well as the plating I also think that the table setting and the overall ambiance including the lighting and background music, the decor, as well as the mannerisms, dress and even the smile of the waiting staff all add to my enjoyment of my meal. For example, this table setting, a photo of which I could not refuse, just makes you feel so good…

And here the plating somehow adds to the taste and the “feel good” of eating this lovely entree…

And here, in yet another table setting, we see the beautiful presentation of the table napkin beckoning @AdamGT to click.

And what about this setting…

Hi @MoniDi ,

My friends and I, we usually have shaved ice after lunch or in the afternoon. It’s also better to share it with friends since the ice may melt fast and it’s not easy to finish an ice mountain on our own.

There’re many popular ice shops in Taipei, like Ice Monster and Smoothie House, which are both famous for their mango shaved ice, however, my favorite is Taiyi Milk King, a traditional Taiwanese dessert shop which serves not only shaved ice but also sweet soup and tang-yuan (my fav is the one filled with sesame).

↓ It may not look pretty, but it does taste good

Perfect @AdamGT ,

This decoration kind of reminds me of a table prepared for a wedding. Everything is clean and polished. You are right that the whole vibe of the restaurant has an effect on your final impression.

Thanks for sharing all these photos!

Hey @ChanneLing ,

Thank you for sharing your favourite dessert. The most interesting part of the shaved ice is that it’s combined with beans. Probably I am not used to the taste but I am sure that if I try it, I will like it.
