I am telling this story with a sigh because I diverged through a route less traveled by.
As it is not a mainstream location, the flow of people is low to this underrated destination.
My brother doubted if I would ever come back, as I had trodden through some of its beauty till my soles turned black.
That mini poem inspired by Robert Frost is so personal to me because it helps explain why I love sharing my trips to undiscovered and unusual places with users of Google maps.
As a member of the minority’s community, I know what it’s like first hand to not have my story told because my culture isn’t well explored.
As an Irish citizen, I know first hand how the Romanian people and Romanian culture is perceived across UK and Ireland.
This subconscious feelings has made a lot of people shy away from even considering a trip to Romania because they just believe it is a place full of people they don’t want to encounter.
So, I set on a journey to explore this beautiful city in the amazing country to showcase to people what it had to offer without telling people where it was.
You’d be amazed to know the amount of people who said they want to visit the place, not knowing it was actually there.
I love how I’m able to tell the story of the city, through the eyes of the locals because I purposefully book hostels to meet new people as I wander alone at times.
I met this great friend who is now a life long friend. He showed me around his city and hometown, telling me stories untold about places unknown, which I have bombarded google maps with with my reviews.
For this is why I do it, why it is a passion for me, as I am able to tell the stories of locals through their eyes as depicted to me via my reviews to other people.
I leave you with this word that will stick with me as introduced to me
by him and his friends, #Piesa
its a word used to describe something beautiful in Romanian, but it actually doesn’t translate that way.
I can can only write good reviews, I cannot make you explore the places.
