The RECAP: Ikoyi High-rises vs Victoria Island High-rises

It has been a while I organized a meetup, and as part of my birthday routine for this year I decided to host one on the 27th, being a day after my birthday. Two weeks before this time, the meetup had been approved and it was going to be a photo walk to see which had the better High-rises between 2 of the few top urban centers in the city of Lagos, Ikoyi and Victoria Island.

The meeting point was the popular The Place restaurant in Ikoyi. Shortly after the arrival of my first attendee @esietukeme , We quickly grubbed a few snack (for the task ahead of us was daunting lol). We chatted about the course of the meetup and other local guide related matter while we took long walk on Alfred Rewane road from The Place Restaurant to Eric Kayser - Ikoyi and back , a 4 km walk, taking photos of all the high rises and opulent buildings, mostly corporate offices. This exercise took about an hour and we are set to hit out next location (Victoria Island) where we will be joined by @cathy. We Exchanged pleasantries, It was Cathy’s first photo-walk meetup and we quickly inducted her and off we went from Burger King all the way to The art Hotel after another 1 hour and 2 Kilometer.

It was time to say goodbyes and everyone was exhausted, but happy to have attended the meetup.

Here below are our photos for your judgement of which had the most and best high-rises

Well @MrFreez

I am little bit confused sha. I hardly know, although I feel it is Ikoyi. Let’s hear what other local guides think. We will ask some eminent local guides to hear what they think. @MrLabule @EmekaUlor please have a look at the Photo Album in the post. Thank you

Nice meetup Patrick. It is always exciting being on the streets of Lagos on a meetup. Taking photos of high-rise buildings requires some good skills too. The photos look great.

A lot of skyscrappers are emerging in Ikoyi which used to be more like a GRA but Victoria Island used to be more like a commercial/residential area with lots of highrise including new ones overlooking the Eko Atlantic. Then the famous1004 Estate.

I guess the skylines are changing and Urbanization is fast rolling across Ikoyi. Well Banana Island and Parkview has hybrid buildings. It’s getting higher around after all.

My favourite highrise skyline is the Lagos Marina

@SholaIB thank you for tagging me. I hope you enjoyed the meetup. Looking forward to joining one these soon. I’m
