I want to share a little story and personal experience that I came across on my latest trip to Croatia and more specific in the wonderful city of Split which is located in the southern part of Croatia.
I have landed to Split airport which is located 24km from the Split city center.
After arriving in city center I wanted to locate my apartment which I have booked from Booking.com
I have contacted owner of the apartment gave me the directions and added them on google maps.
Split is a historic city with lot’s of white stone walls and under its courtyards are a cathedral and numerous shops, bars, cafes, hotels and houses.
My Internet reception was bit poor and I was trying for 30 minutes to locate the apartment without luck.
I have contacted again the owner and on my surprise he admitted that the pin on google maps was wrong. From that point I knew that I had to do something. So I promise him to fix the issue so it would be easier for people to locate the apartment.
Actually this was the reason I have made so many contributions to google maps and participate on local guides program.
I have changed the pin updated the details and helped others. The owner thanked me several times and I was very happy to assist him and find a solution to his problem.
Visit Split it’s awesome especially in summer season!
That’s an interesting story @panayiotisgeorgiou ! And it’s part of what we do as Local Guides every day. From our own experience we can encounter different problems or issues that can affect us or other people. Acknowledging the impact we can make just by suggesting a contribution to Maps is such a positive feeling.
I’m glad that you could fix what was incorrect, because now it’s going to be harder for people to get lost while trying to find the apartment

Hello @KatyaL , I was surprised that the owner told me that many customers had the same problem as me so I took action and change it!
You are absolutely correct the seacoast and the nearby islands are amazing and worth visiting!
especially in summer season!
