It really is… If you have a chance, I recommend you to go to Jogja, the mountain is about 20-25kn north of Jogja
Merapi mountain is one of the most active volcano in Indonesia, especially in Java Island.
As known that the Southern part of Indonesia,from the tip of Sumatra Island in the west as far as Lombok, is called the ring of fire. There are numerous active volcanoes along the line.
From those volcanoes, Merapi is one of the most active besides Krakatau in Sunda strait which lies between Sumatra and Java island.
The last big eruption happened on 2010 which caused hundreds of death.
