The Most Viewed Photo in History

@AdamGT . If your photo is popular than it is guaranteed to become cover photo. If it has good no of views it can be featured photo. However one can never be sure. Also one can sometimed not even know because there is no notification for it. I was surprised to see many of my phoyos becoming cover photo and several videos and photos featured when i was revisiting those reviews for a post yesterday. @OliverKIWI Best to take good pics that pleases you to share.

Great to hear @curatorofmemory. I specifically asked as there were some last minute teething problems. I assume you can also see the hi-resolution version after selecting any star.

@AdamGT . Yes. No issues

“Bliss” is certainly a fascinating story @PrasadVR and like you I wouldn’t consider it as an exceptional or amazing photo however it made the cover of an important “place” in history and consequently it gained the views that it did.

I’m like you Prasad. I just point and click rather than wait for the perfect moment or aim for the perfect shot.

Great to hear that you also tried this new HUB feature Prasad and as you say, it’s yet another easy way to see as well as finding star photo and videos. There are some features in the pipeline that will further enhance use of the new galleries. Did selecting one of the star thumbnails lead to the hi-resolution version of the selected star for you? I’m asking as I’m keen to know of any issues on the various devices and platforms being used by the community.

I totally agree with you @curatorofmemory and especially where you said:

@AdamGT I am able to see A star photo collage and even a larger view, but i don’t see mine. Am I missing the point completely as usual?

The photo bliss is definitely one of those strokes of luck, like some director seeing a photo of someone in a scouting book and saying…hrmm he or she looks perfect for the part.

@StevenBerlin Yes from visiting your HUB (see screenshot below) I can see that you have added your star photo (but not your star video) so obviously the reason why it doesn’t appear in the new hi-resolution gallery is that you have no updated it’s data in the last month or so. Simply visit the T100 Leaderboard system and you’ll see what you need to do then re-test accessing the hi-res gallery from any HUB. Do let me know how you go as it will help diagnose future problems.

Absolutely amazing @AdamGT. You’ve found the time to develop yet another additional feature in this Maps contribution project. Congratulations!!

I share your feelings @Peadar, and I don’t even think there’s any beauty in my Star Photo. Nevertheless, we can only let the algorithm do its work, and we look on and wonder.

Very helpful @WilfriedB, but mine is slightly different. It says Star Photos Gallery, and Star Video Gallery.

I think you’re correct @abermans. Yet none of my newer photos from improved efforts ever seem to get anywhere near as many views as my very old careless amateur shot that became the Star.

Adam changed it after I posted my screenshot @tony_b

Not a big disadvantage this time @Annaelisa. You can’t scroll down very far on desktop either. I’m assuming @AdamGT hasn’t finished loading the other groups.

@AdamGT I discovered my stars were also missing from the new galleries so I followed the advice you gave @StevenBerlin and now both my star photo and star video are there. I’m sure that others in the community will do the same. I agree with @tony_b, this is a great new feature to showcase our Maps media contributions.

There is no hack @OliverKIWI. From my experience it’s all just luck and chance. One suggestion is that photos of popular high traffic places tend to get lost in the mix and become invisible to the public. But even that theory proved false when I posted some a few months ago. My luck held out that time.

A bit longer than that @WilfriedB. I trained on Windows XP even though I never touched a computer until about 2007.

Not so sure about this @curatorofmemory. It has been said many times here on Connect, that it isn’t the photos we like, but rather the photos the algorithm chooses.

Oh!! That was naughty of him. Thanks for explaining the difference @WilfriedB.

Means, they didn’t want to give the latest and greatest computer to the new trainee @tony_b  “Available” meant before Microsoft started to market Vista. Of course, there were still many users of the older operating systems for quite a whil, as myself: still using Windows 10.
