I won’t deny it: I love to discovery new places and not only in my own town but also every time I travel. The most interesting thing I’ve done as a Local Guide is share these discoveries, and also sharing what I tasted, felt, and seen, and I like also to help people making some recommendations depending on the nature of the places. Additionally, one thing I’ve learned is that you can find a lot of descriptions or recommendations that are not based from an objective point of view, failing to be fair with some places, I try in my opinions to move away a little from subjectivity and contribute to people wanting to know these places, or not, because this is also an option. So, I make a combination of my own experience and my review trying to be objective with the place.
One of the most seen pictures that I’ve added is from La Bussola, in Muggia, Italy. This place is a little restaurant that is located on the shores of the Adriatic Sea, with a beautiful view. I was with 3 friends and we decided to eat there because we found it very familiar. When we started to order we found that they offered Clams with lemon, so we ordered this and so far it is one of the best plates I’ve ever eaten in my whole life. I made the review (very modest, by the way, I was so exciting with the place) with a photo of this plate, and I think it was the 3rd photo I posted on Google Maps. I didn’t expect to be seen for so many people so when I found out this I was thrilled.
My most seen picture that I’ve added to Google Maps is from A Grife do Filé Mignon, in Sao Paulo, Brasil. This is a restaurant very near from Paulista Avenue, where people can drink or eat something after work (for example). The picture is of a very popular drink in Brasil: Caipirinha, and this drink was amazing. I was attended by the owner of the place and of course he tried to prepare the best Caipirinha ever. He did it! And of course I wanted to share this amazing drink with everybody, I think it was like an invitation to go there and enjoy a good and popular drink well done.
One of the most suppressive notifications for me was the amount of views that has the photo of Chicken Fresh, a chicken restaurant in my own town. When this happens? I thought. It was incredible because I went with my boyfriend to this place in a hurry before taking a flight to Brasil, and we found that the food was very good, and I made a good review making people know that the place was a little small but service was good too. The picture is one of the plates they offered.
Also, I have added and edited some places, especially in my own city, and I love when this happen because I can contribute to Google Map and to have more accurately directions and addresses. Unfortunately sometimes places change a lot and I have done some of corrections also, but it is a pity when a place closes forever, especially when they are good and popular.
Well, I think this is the most interesting thing I’ve done as a Local Guide. I hope to be helping people when it comes to make a decision for going on travel or dinner or drinking, and I will continue doing it every time I have the chance. In fact, I realized that I was writing only in Spanish, so in a point I started to make reviews in English, and I need a new camera, photos are very helpful always. Hope that other people can contribute also with reviews and make good places more visible for everybody. So, the impact of my reviews and the new knowledge that I can give to people about places is definitely the most amazing thing I’ve done as a Local Guide.
