Pidurangala is a massive rock formation located a few kilometers north of Sigiriya in Sri Lanka. Climbing to the top of Pidurangala Rock is not easier than climbing Sigiriya and there are not any safety fences or guards. If you are fit and adventurous it is a climb worth making. It will take you about two hours. There is far less to see on this site than Sigiriya. The best time to visit this place is around 5 am in the morning because you have enough time to climb up and observe the wonderful sunrise. I recommend you to take a flashlight with you if you wish to climb up very early in the morning because you have to climb up through a jungle. The ticket office opens around 4 am in the morning or sometimes 5 am in the morning. It will cost 500 Sri Lanka rupees for one person. This place is super famous for awesome photo compositions on Instagram and the travelers who visited Sri Lanka from all around the world.
Our family’s’ resort located near 20minutes away from Pidurangala. I visited the Pidurangala several times. Please let me know if you come to Dambulla you can stay in our resort. There’s a shortcut from our resort to Pidurangala through a forest. When we go early in the morning on this jungle road every time we met huge wild elephants and a lot of wild rabbits and also a lot of peacocks. It’s like a small safari early in the morning.
