The most famous toilet in New Zealand (and probably the World)

in Kawakawa, New Zealand.

It’s designed by Austrian Friedensreich Hundertwasser, who lived in New Zealand from 1975 to 2000 when he passed away.

This unique toilet is the only project completed in the Southern Hemisphere and the last one while he is alive. It was open to the public in 1999 and it became an instant tourism hot spot attracting locals and internationals from far and near.

The design is quintessential Hundertwasser - recycled items, glass/glass bottle, irregularly shaped tiles, found objects, organic in form, bold colours, curve lines etc.

If you drive to the Far North, Kawakawa can be a great place for a toilet break:) and some photos.

There is an earlier post World Famous in New Zealand from @TheEagleEye as well. For places like this, there should never be too many photos!

Hi @OliverKIWI ,

This place looks really interesting. We have a similar kind of place in New Delhi - that’s the Toilet Museum. I have a post about it. You can see it here.
